Job Responsibilities
Description:We’re looking for an experienced Aerospace Inspector to join our team. This person will use their talents as a member of Sikorsky’s FAA ODA Inspection Unit to review aircraft articles to determine their airworthiness and eligibility for export. As such, the successful candidate must be eligible to become an ODA inspection unit member
You will be responsible for the following activities:
• Review outbound delivery articles to determine airworthiness and eligibility for export where relevant. Review and issue FAA 8130-3 domestic or export Airworthiness Approvals.
• Perform customer specific outbound inspection.
• Provide expertise and guidance to the inspection teams.
• Use your expertise to answer questions about product conformity from non-technical personnel.
• Perform inspection on returned material.
Work with teams to perform root cause analysis and help determine effective corrective action plans. Work with teams to evaluate and improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes.
• Conduct floor walks and storage/handling audits.
• Process and disposition nonconforming material incidents.
Provide reports and feedback to Sikorsky Quality management.
Any other action or activity as assigned
This position is at our North Haven, CT 3PL warehousing and distribution facility.
Basic Qualifications:
-Eligible to become an ODA inspection‑unit member.
-Familiar with the relevant FAA regulations, directives, and guidance.
-Up‑to‑date technical knowledge and hands‑on experience with products of the same type and complexity as Sikorsky aircraft.
-Strong written English to produce clear, concise reports and documents.
-Ability to stay completely objective while performing FAA/ODA functions.
-Direct experience working with the FAA or ODA on tasks that lead to airworthiness certificates or approvals.
-At least 12 months in a responsible position involving issuance of airworthiness certificates or approvals for similar aircraft components.
- Have the ability to maintain the highest degree of objectivity while performing authorized functions on behalf of the FAA/ODA.
-Possess and present evidence of 12 months of experience with quality control methods and techniques demonstrating the candidate’s ability to determine that articles (of the same type and complexity as those utilized in the production of Sikorsky aircraft) conform to approved design and are in a condition for safe operation. This should include knowledge of the following:
o First article, in-process, and final assembly inspections.
o Quality assurance provisions of special processes (for example, heat treating, brazing, welding, carbonizing, and plating).
o Destructive and nondestructive inspections.
o Manufacturing processes.
o Airworthiness assurance.
o Development and implementation of quality control systems and procedures.
o Testing procedures.
o Use of FAA-approved type design data.
-Provide three verifiable character references to substantiate that the candidate meets the above requirements.
Desired Skills:
• Interpretation of drawing and specification requirements in relation to product and process characteristics.
• Root cause analyses and development of corrective and preventive action plans.

• Proficiency with various dimensional inspection methods and equipment, including layout and hand tools

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
