Description:We are seeking an experienced and organized leader to join our team as an Electro-Optical Engineering Senior Manager within the Advanced Capabilities Electro-optics & Security (ACES) Directorate of Lockheed Martin Space - Ignite. The successful candidate will become part of the ACES management team and will be responsible for the successful execution and staffing of a rapidly growing technology portfolio. The Sr. Manager will lead this world-class organization in executing activities in support of Ignite, the Corporation, and external customers. The Sr. Manager will work closely with aligned Ignite departments, LM lines of business, Engineering & Technology, the Financial & Business Operations (F&BO) group, the Strategy & Business Development team, and the Human Resources and Recruiting organizations to coordinate these activities.
Working with other leaders, the successful candidate will be responsible for the smooth operations of the directorate, including reviewing program cost and schedule execution; ensuring appropriate program staffing; managing the hiring, workload balance and training for employees across a directorate of 100+ people; overseeing various indirect budgets; and supporting proposal development. This leader may have 10-15 technical people reporting to them and will be responsible for guiding their career development and performance.
Key Responsibilities include:
• Coordinate staffing needs with the Engineering & Technology organization’s Talent Centers.
• Balance workloads across the directorate, ensuring that employees are utilized efficiently and effectively. Maintain this information in staffing tools.
• Identify and mitigate risks to the directorate's workforce, including talent gaps, skill shortages, and retention challenges.
• Provide guidance and support to employees, including career development, coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution.
• Oversee a standardized program execution and management process to include CRAD and IRAD programs.
• Champion an earned value management system for development programs and a research management process for research activities that ensures flawless execution without destroying the ability to stimulate innovation.
• Ensure successful cost, schedule and technical performance of all programs in collaboration with ACES program managers and principal investigators.
• Train and mentor junior program managers and principal investigators.
• Conduct quantitative data analysis to guide directorate decision making and planning.
• Implement lean business capture “best practices” and coordinate business pursuits across the ACES directorate.
• Review all outgoing proposals for cost reasonableness and work with F&BO to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
• Develop the cost and management volumes of select ACES proposals.
• Coordinate and manage indirect budgets to ensure the ACES directorate remains within spending allocations.
• Oversee select special projects such as facility expansions and IT infrastructure installment.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. engineering, physics, optics)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership or management role, with a focus on personnel and program management
• Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and make data-driven decisions
• Experience managing research portfolios to include budget, cost, and schedules
• Previous cost account management experience
• Experience collaborating with multi-functional, geographically dispersed teams, and with other business areas
• Ability to communicate complex ideas and explain technology and concepts to an audience of both experts and non-experts.
• Ability and willingness to travel.
• Top Secret Security clearance, never have been denied special access program clearance

• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience using Lockheed Martin's systems and tools for requisition placement and employee data management
• Demonstrated experience leading and managing multiple research or development teams in parallel.
• Experience with earned value management systems, development of cost estimates, subcontract management and risk management.
• Demonstrated experience leading development of applied research and development proposals >$10M, include writing of technical and management/cost volumes.
• Experience on-boarding new talent, including subcontractors
• Excellent people management skills, with ability to develop and motivate direct reports and others
• Experience with agile methodologies and lean principles
• Strong data analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to drive business decisions using data-driven insights
• Possess Top Secret and SCI clearances.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Top Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $157,800 - $278,185. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $181,400 - $314,525. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
