The RF Talent Center is seeking an experienced RF RFIC and MMIC design engineer to lead the development of new technology for Electronically Steerable Array (ESA) Payloads. This position requires proficiency in RF microwave design using discrete, MMIC, and RFIC circuits in hermetic modules in high reliability applications with subject matter expert level knowledge of MMIC and RFIC design and fabrication processes and suppliers.
As an experienced RF Engineer, you will lead ESA MMIC design efforts across all aspects of production and test verification lifecycle. You will tackle the most challenging RF assignments and demonstrate a detailed understanding of your hardware and mission to satisfy both internal and external stakeholders. This role will work closely with other leaders and Subject Matter Experts to manage supplier production and test risks and opportunities. The selected candidate will also work closely with customers to ensure the success of MMIC product deliveries and milestones. In addition, the selected candidate will have opportunities to participate in ESA Design & Analysis efforts across product engineering, analysis, calibration and verification from capture to design to production and operationalization.
This position emphasizes “systems thinking” throughout the life-cycle of payloads, subsystems, and RF and Antenna components.
Successful applicants will typically possess 9 years of professional experience with a minimum education level of Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline (electrical engineering or STEM related degree/certification), or equivalent experience/combined education
Basic Qualifications:
Skill Requirements:
• RF circuit analysis, using tools such as Agilent ADS (Advanced Design System), Ansys HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator), AWR Microwave Office, or similar tool packages.
• Knowledge of RF/mmWave SiP/MMIC design, layout and simulation techniques
• Practical knowledge of RF/mmWave Integrated circuit (IC) characterization and measurement equipment and techniques
• Practical knowledge of calibration methods
• Detailed knowledge of RF design tools such as HFSS, CST MW Studio, FEKO, ADS, Microwave Office, SystemVue, Cadence, Zuken or Altium Designer, MATLAB, LabVIEW, etc.
• Subject Matter Expert in the area of RFIC and MMIC Design, characterization and modeling of circuits using S parameters, circuit layout and test using bench-top microwave equipment including spectrum and network analyzers
• Demonstrated experience in RF modeling and simulation
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with MS Office tools
Security Clearance / Work Authorization Requirements:
• To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected applicant to be a U.S. Citizen
• Although not required to start, applicants must be eligible to obtain a US government issued Top Secret security clearance.
Desired Skills:
• A thorough understanding of semiconductor physics and various semiconductor processes
• Requirements analysis, decomposition and flow down of RF payloads
• Deep understanding in RF/mmWave transceiver specification and able to work with system architects to translate system requirement into circuit requirement at SiP or SoC level
• Experience designing active components, such as Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs) , hybrids, Linearized Traveling Wave Tube Amplifiers (LTWTAs), Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs), Oscillators, frequency converters, etc.
• 10+ years of working experience in RF/mmWave SiP/MMIC
• Demonstrated product level development successes in the RF/mmWave SiP/MMIC, particularly with integrating low noise amplifiers, mixers, phase shifters, gain blocks, variable gain amplifiers, switches, power amplifiers, and power detectors.
• Willingness to travel on a limited basis for vendor oversight and customer interaction
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and documentation skills
• Active DoD Top Secret Clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $118,700 - $209,300. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
