What You Will Be Doing
Join our team as a Tech Data Author – Level 2, where you’ll play a critical role in supporting the sustainment and modification of the F-35 aircraft. In this position, you’ll transform complex engineering changes into clear and actionable technical directives that guide aircraft maintenance and upgrades. Your work directly supports mission readiness and the operational effectiveness of one of the most advanced aircraft in the world.
You will collaborate with a wide range of engineering and logistics professionals to ensure technical accuracy and consistency. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where your documentation expertise will have a lasting impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a Time Compliance Technical Directive (TCTD) author within the F-35 Joint-Service Technical Data (JTD) team.
- Collaborate closely with the engineering community to interpret change requests and define associated modification or retrofit tasks.
- Analyze engineering drawings and data to develop accurate Modification Kit Parts Listings (MKPL) and support material.
- Draft and deliver step-by-step technical instructions for aircraft and equipment modifications in compliance with F-35 program standards.
- Work with graphic designers to develop technical illustrations that complement and clarify modification procedures.
- Support maintainers and modification teams in the field during directive verification and proofing events to ensure accuracy and usability.

Who You Are
You are a detail-oriented technical communicator with a strong ability to interpret complex engineering data and translate it into clear, user-friendly documentation. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are confident working closely with engineers, graphic artists, and field personnel. You have experience authoring technical manuals or directives, ideally in support of military or aerospace programs. You are organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Your communication skills are top-notch, and you take pride in creating high-quality, accurate, and effective technical content that directly supports maintainers and mission readiness.

Basic Qualifications:
• Experience in aircraft maintenance,
modification, and/or project management.
• Experience reading and interpreting
complex engineering drawings and process
specifications.
• Experience utilizing Microsoft Office
suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Desired Skills:
• Technical writing experience
• F-35 modification experience
• F-35 maintenance experience
• Familiarity / direct experience with and using
SGML/XML, SGML/XML Authoring
• Removal, installation, and inspection of aircraft
components
• F-35 Engineering and Logistics systems experience
(JDL - JSF Data Library, PDM - Product Data Manager,
QAD - Quality Assurance Document, ATLAS -
Advanced Technical Logistics Applications System, VAS
- Visual Augmentation System, SFM - Shop Floor
Manager)
• Experience at military aircraft operational and flight
test sites
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
