What You Will Be Doing
As a Systems Engineer Stf – Level 4, you will be a key member of the Integrated Fighter Group Maintainability, Diagnostics Health Management, and Logistics Supportability Analysis Team, supporting F-22 Vehicle Systems. In this role, you’ll leverage your expertise to enhance the sustainment, reliability, and maintainability of one of the world’s most advanced fighter aircraft.
You will lead efforts to analyze and interpret fielded aircraft maintenance data, assess diagnostic system performance, and drive improvements that directly impact aircraft readiness and mission success. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, program leadership, and military customers—making a tangible difference in the sustainment and supportability of the F-22 fleet.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform trending and in-depth analysis of F-22 Vehicle Systems maintenance and diagnostic performance data.
- Recommend and implement improvements to maintenance procedures, fault isolation processes, and diagnostic capabilities.
- Partner with Product Development Teams, the F-22 System Project Office, and military stakeholders to resolve issues affecting fielded aircraft.
- Identify systemic maintainability and diagnostic issues, driving solutions that improve aircraft availability and reduce supply chain impacts.

Who You Are
You are a highly skilled systems engineer with deep expertise in aircraft vehicle systems—ideally on the F-22 platform. You excel at problem-solving and using data to uncover insights that lead to real-world improvements. With strong communication and interpersonal skills, you’re comfortable working directly with customers and cross-functional teams to drive solutions. You’re passionate about sustainment engineering, motivated by mission readiness, and eager to contribute to the long-term success of advanced fighter platforms.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with 9 years of professional experience, 7 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree, or 11 years experience in the absence of a Bachelors Degree
• F-22 Maintenance or Product Development Team Experience
• Experience with F-22 Vehicle Systems (Vehicle Management System, Fuels, Hydraulic, Flight Controls, Electrical Power, Accommodations Systems), and Avionics Systems (Integrated Avionics Architecture, Communication, Navigation, Identification, Open System Architecture, Electronic Warfare, RADAR)
• Technical report writing skills (i.e. maintenance task analysis, diagnostic reports)
• Must be able to obtain a secret clearance
Desired Skills:
• Experience interfacing with and presenting to military maintenance customers preferred
• Experience with Maintenance Task Analysis
• Experience with 5th Gen Aircraft Diagnostics or Prognostics Health Management
• Experience responding to Technical Order Change Requests/Action Requests from military customer
• Experience conducting Root Cause Corrective Action on aircraft and supply readiness issues
• Equivalent experience as a team lead or mentoring and providing guidance to less experienced personnel

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
