Description:
You will be the Systems Engineer - Affordability for the F-35 Affordability Engineering team which is responsible for delivering cost‑effective solutions across the F‑35 program.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Systems Engineer - Affordability you will be responsible for integrating and executing Cost Reduction Initiatives (CRI) while providing expert counsel on affordability processes, decision criteria, and funding options. You will collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders to protect program spend and drive value‑focused outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Integrate and execute Cost Reduction Initiatives across Production, Sustainment, and Development business units.
- Advise cost‑category and CRI project owners on affordability processes, business decision criteria, and funding options.
- Monitor CRI project costs and progress, delivering technical guidance to process managers.
- Act as liaison among engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, suppliers, and program stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination.
- Develop and apply Value‑Driven Solutions expertise in support of Aeronautics Engineering & Technology leadership.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM discipline
• Engineering Experience in the Aerospace Industry
Desired Skills:
• Experienced working with teams that are comprised of a variety of roles and backgrounds including Program Management, Engineering and Technology, Finance, Global Supply Chain, Production Operations, and Quality.
• Must be an excellent communicator, skilled in data visualization, with experience presenting to executive leadership and external customers.
• Strong fundamental engineering knowledge and financial acumen.
• Familiarity with Cost modeling and/or Design-to-Cost tools
• Manufacturing materials & processes familiarity.
• Familiarity with Cost modeling and/or Design-to-Cost tools
• Producibility Analysis experience
• Knowledge of overall F-35 air system, design, and processes.
• Knowledge of F-35 development, production operations, and sustainment.
• Knowledge of Subcontract Management process (TINA, FAR, proposal, PCA, negotiations, FFP, LTA, MRC, etc.)
• Experience with Capture, Position to Win, Affordability Planning, Government Contracting, Team Facilitation, Training, Coaching, Group Prioritization Techniques, Cost Target Allocation, and engaging with suppliers.
• Capable of performing O&S Cost, Similar-to, Pre-Design Performance, Sensitivity, Cost Capability, Producibility, Pareto, Architecture cost-driver, cost-benefit, and/or Learning Curve Analyses.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
