Veteran jobs mission (FORMERLY 100,000 JOBS MISSION)

Lockheed Martin is proud to be an early member of this coalition which now numbers over 200 leading U.S. companies. Initially launched as the 100,000 Jobs Mission in March 2011 with a goal of hiring 100,000 transitioning service members and military veterans by 2020, the coalition has far surpassed its initial goal and is now committed to hiring one million veterans collectively. Our nation's military and veterans represent the best this country has to offer. Hiring Our Heroes

Supporting our fighters is a huge part of what we do, both as a company and as an employer. And our hiring and recruiting practices reflect this 100+ year commitment. Today, we employ approximately 25,000 veterans, and together with Boeing, Alcoa and GE, veterans make up 64,000 of our employees.

We're actively involved in programs that help veterans transition into satisfying, meaningful civilian careers. Among them is Hiring Our Heroes, a U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation initiative to help veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses find meaningful employment opportunities.

Also underscoring our dedication to advancing the hiring of veterans and military spouses, we are a member of the Veterans Employment Advisory Council, through which we establish best practices for veteran employment, provide military transition mentoring, and deliver military hiring assistance to businesses across the U.S.

Army Partnership for Youth Success Program

Our achievements in areas such as IT and aerospace have driven groundbreaking projects that have defined eras, and with exciting projects in nanotechnology, green energy, robotics and more, we push the boundaries of what's possible every day.

Military Spouse Employment Partnership

Supporting our service members is a huge part of what we do, as a company and an employer. And in partnership with the Military Spouse Employment Program, we extend the same commitment to their spouses.

Of the 85% of military spouses who want or need to work, 25% are unemployed and 25% earn less than their civilian counterparts. We work to close these gaps by helping them:

  • Discover their professional skills, interests, and goals
  • Identify academic, licensing, or credentialing requirements for their chosen career paths
  • Build self-marketing skills to sell themselves to potential employers
  • Maintain valuable employment connections

Over 60,000 military spouses have been hired through this program.
