Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking a Sr. Quality Engineer for a position in Troy, AL to provide Quality Engineer (QE) support for the THAAD business area at Pike County Operations and requires electrical, mechanical, or quality engineering experience developing/reviewing quality standards, methods, work instructions and procedures for the inspection of manufactured products.

This program is fast paced requiring technical acumen / critical thinking. Supports all Quality Management data, reports, analysis, etc. as directed by the PCO Site Quality Manager and / or THAAD QPM.

Support all Quality Initiatives, Improvements, PMT activities.

Review documentation related to internal and external manufacturing processes to ensure quality products are delivered to the customer.

Support Integrated Product Teams and various production sites with reviews of quality data on failures, yields, rework, scrap and non-conformance aging. Ability to analyze and resolve design, manufacturing, and process issues varying from basic to very complex and technically challenging.

Attend program corrective action meetings, identifies trends, assists in problem resolution and ensures responsible parties meet requirements and commitments.

Participate on Material Review Boards and Failure Review Boards to include disposition of non-conforming hardware, investigate / identify hardware containment, identify root cause and ensure corrective action is taken to prevent recurrence.

Perform assessments / audits on processes and procedures to ensure compliance to specifications, engineering drawings, procedures and ISO-9001 / AS9100.

Evaluate design assurance activities / implement production process methodology / improvements to mitigate production quality / velocity impacts.

Interface with customers, suppliers / program personnel on quality related issues.

Utilize lean initiatives to reduce waste and maintain continuous improvement.

Make final decision on product acceptability.

Interface with Production Operations, Quality / Manufacturing Engineering and Material Support Center staff. This role requires working non-conformance issues through to root cause and corrective / preventive action.

Develop, modify, apply and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.

Collaborate with engineering / manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.

Devise / implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.

Design and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.

Audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.

Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards that are documented and compliant with requirements.

May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

The Locale:

Troy, Alabama is located in the East Gulf Coastal Plains region of southeastern Alabama. Troy's climate is typical of areas along the Gulf of Mexico in that it has hot, humid summers and mild winters.

Troy is a great place to live offering lots of things to do and has a small-town charm. Troy is also a college town and is home to Troy University.

Where can you get to from Troy? Our facility is just under an hour south of Montgomery, AL. Troy is about 2.5 hours north of the Gulf of Mexico.
Basic Qualifications:
Technical Engineering degree at the Bachelor level or above and/or equivalent experience/combined education.

Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance and must have an interim clearance prior to starting.

Ability to analyze and resolve design, manufacturing, and process issues varying from basic to very complex and technically challenging.

Experience working non-conformance issues through to root cause and corrective / preventive action.

Knowledge of AS9100 Quality systems.

Knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection.

Ability to work with and around explosives.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite.

Experienced in using various inspection measurement tools.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate verification activity (BVP, PVP, or equivalent) with Orlando and government quality teams.

Ability to work (non-standard) hours as needed.

Candidate must be able to pass a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (“ATF”) background check to obtain approval to be an “employee possessor” (of explosives or other ATF-regulated items) as defined by ATF regulations. Failure to obtain and retain employee possessor status may result in revocation of an offer and loss of employment.
Desired Skills:
STEM degree at bachelor's level or higher preferred.

Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt / Black Belt).

Experience with use of inspection gages and measuring equipment.

ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CSQ) and / or Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA).

Defense contractor or military contractor experience.

Effective communication and presentation skills.

Strong background in a DOD Quality Engineering area.

Customer Relationship Management skills.

Experience working with Government customers.

SAP Application experience and or dispositioning QNotes.

Experience with Manufacturing Readiness Assessments and the evaluation of Manufacturing Readiness Levels.

Demonstrated Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance Skill.

In-depth knowledge of Quality Engineering methods, processes, and tools.

Demonstrated use of standard problem solving, troubleshooting tools, and root cause analysis skills.

Ability to perform support functions and make appropriate quality decisions.

Experienced in reading and interpreting drawings and standards in order to develop inspection methods via work instructions.

Experience in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and / or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
