Description:Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) has an opportunity for an Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH)Engineer at Troy, Alabama to support a growing campus and workforce engaged in the production, assembly, and test of products for aerospace and defense systems.

The ESH Engineer will support MFC in the ongoing management and enhancement of environmental, safety and health (ESH) programs, regulatory compliance, and provide technical and service-oriented support to plant personnel and functions. Candidate will represent the organization across multiple levels of the company and demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate organization strategy and objectives.

Candidate will assist with ESH program assessments, mishap investigations and safety incident reviews. Candidate will also be responsible for developing and delivering contractual and regulatory data deliverables; collecting and delivering on ESH metrics; supporting organizational ESH initiatives; providing customer support to employees and programs; and the development of program enhancements relative to overall ESH compliance. The candidate must be able to work on-call and varied shifts on occasion and may be required to travel infrequently.

Primary responsibilities include:
- Support safety programs such as explosive safety, radiation safety, confined space, ergonomics, hot work, hazardous energy control, equipment commissioning, and construction and maintenance safety;
- Support environmental programs such as RCRA hazardous waste management, air permitting and compliance, NPDES storm water permitting and compliance, waste reduction and recycling initiatives;
- Manage evaluation, selection, and approval of personal protective equipment;
- Support floor walks and hazard elimination activities;
- Write and update ESH processes and procedures;
- Track and support indicators of ESH performance and support injury reduction initiatives;
- Assist with emergency response activities and incident investigations;
- Support employee training, engagement, and outreach;
- Aid in compliance and auditing efforts related to programs of responsibility.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline.
- Competent with applicable regulatory and consensus standards such as OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, ASME, EPA, ADEM, etc.
- Excellent customer service and collaborative skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with computer-based tools and applications (Microsoft Office business program).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
- Ability to obtain and hold a government secret security clearance and must have an interim clearance prior to start.
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited university in occupational safety and health, environmental management or ESH-related discipline.
- Well-rounded experience in the environmental, safety and health disciplines.
- Experience in explosive safety, radio frequency, radiation, and construction safety.
- Experience in construction storm water management and compliance, air permitting and compliance, and pollution prevention initiatives.
- Experience in and supporting manufacturing, and experience working directly with all levels of an organization to address issues.
- Incident investigation and data analysis skills.
- Demonstrated customer oriented approach and project management skills.
- Knowledge of and experience with ESH management systems, such as ISO 14001, 45001, OSHA VPP; Lead auditor certification a plus.
- Experience with lean manufacturing and continual improvement; Green Belt or Black Belt certified a plus.
- Certifications in the ESH profession.
- Experience with emerging technologies and applications relative to the ESH function.
