Description: Lockheed Martin’s Fleet Ballistic Missile Program (FBM) is seeking a dynamic self-starter to join a team of test engineers/systems integrators in the support, maintenance and operation of sea-based optical instrumentation data collection missions from a shipboard platform in support of FBM flight testing. This position requires periodic domestic and foreign travel, including time at-sea on military ships with durations between 7-40 days.

In this role you will:

Aid in the trouble shooting and maintenance of system level, subsystem level (electrical/power, optical sensor, data recorder, gimbal, and mechanical), and unit level components. This may include evaluating optical collection systems and their associated mechanical, control and power systems.

Provide operations activities to include; system level readiness testing, logistical transport support at domestic and foreign shipyards/ports, support ship integration, subsystem troubleshooting, and at-sea system operations.

Perform system testing to generate parameters for optimal gimbal target tracking in preparation of mission operations.

Design, develop, implement and document testing methods to ensure associated equipment is safe, optimally configured, and operational.

Must have an active Final Secret or higher Clearance to be considered for this role.

This position requires special access to support the program and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen.
Desired Skills: • Experience with optical systems
• Experience and application of optical sensor (visible, MWIR, PMT) theories, concepts, and techniques.
• Basic knowledge of FBM Trident II D5 Missile System
• Experience in optical systems support and maintenance

• The ability to work under general supervision in a team environment, sometimes from remote, shipboard locations. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy.
• Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
• The ability to problem solve and provide solutions to technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience years of experience within field in lieu of a degree; or no experience required with a related Masters degree.

Highly motivated and willing to learn multiple areas of optical systems.

Team player who takes ownership of work.
