What You Will Be Doing:

As the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing strategies for complex missile assemblies, and will play a crucial role in developing and implementing solutions for technical and organizational challenges. You will communicate directly with government customers, influence design producibility, and transition new or revised designs from development into production.

Your responsibilities will include:
Developing and implementing efficient manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, painting, and material handling for the production of complex missile assemblies.

Interpret drawings and model-based designs, translating them into actionable steps for manufacturability for the production environment utilizing the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and CAD tools.

Developing manufacturing readiness assessments.
Creating specifications and procedures for the fabrication of tools, equipment, fixtures, and manufacturing aides; adapts equipment to factory and production conditions.

Ensuring new designs are producible and meet cost targets (DFx) in a full-rate manufacturing environment.

Driving cost reduction initiatives while identifying and mitigating production risks.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement solutions for technical and organizational challenges.

Lead team members in Engineering Change incorporation approach, Process Improvement, and Teaming initiatives

Provide direct support on the production floor, troubleshooting issues to the root cause and implementing solutions.

Improving the overall process of the build using complex, cutting-edge technologies and automation.

Communicating directly with government customers and influencing design producibility.

Providing Lockheed Martin and supplier manufacturing support

Research, recommend, and implement new equipment and technologies for supporting current and future production opportunities.

Collaborates with Quality to develop tools, fixtures, and processes for inspection; incorporates inspection points into Manufacturing Work Instructions (MWI’s).

Collaborates with Tool Design Engineering to develop and procure tools and fixtures to ensure drawing dimensions and tolerances are achieved; coordinate revisions and improvements.

Monitors the performance of equipment and processes to optimize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control.

Ensures that processes and procedures re in compliance with regulations and customer requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
Experienced Manufacturing Engineer with knowledge of industry standards and best practices of manufacturing processes, procedures, process improvement, and strategic planning.

Professional experience with product manufacturability with ability to drive internal initiatives such as process improvements, lean, and manufacturing technology enhancements.

Strong communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.

Experience with design and fabrication for tooling, fixtures and manufacturing aides.

Proficient working in 3D modelling software (CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks, Nx), Product Lifecycle Manager (PLM) programs (e.g. 3DX, Teamcenter, PDM, etc.), and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) programs (Apriso, iBASEt, SAP, etc.).
Desired Skills:
Ability to mentor and teach individuals or small groups.

Excellent Team facilitation skills and effective use of Lean Six-Sigma tools.

Experience in representing Operations teams for a wide range of difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.

Lean Six-Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification.

Knowledge of Digital Transformation and Automation Processes in a Manufacturing Assembly Environment.

Understanding and wide application of Manufacturing Processes (Assembly, Machining, Riveting, Painting, etc.).

First Unit Flow planning & execution.

Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) knowledge/experience.

Experience with NC programming using MasterCAM or similar software.
Knowledge of how to set up and implement new machining centers in production.

Experience using CREO, DFMPro, SAP, and Apriso.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Secret

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
