Apply Now Job ID: 465698BR Date posted: Jan. 03, 2019 City: Sunnyvale State: California
Description:The coolest jobs on this planet… or any other… are with Lockheed Martin Space. At the dawn of a new space age, Lockheed Martin is a pioneer, partner, innovator and builder. Our amazing men and women are on a mission to make a difference in the world and every day we use our unique skills and experiences to create, design and build solutions to some of the worlds’ hardest engineering problems. Our culture inspires employees to dream big, perform with excellence and create incredible products. We provide the resources, inspiration and focus and if you have the passion and courage to dream big, we want to build a better tomorrow with you.

As a member of the Critical Operations Readiness and Execution Team (CORE Team), you’ll have an opportunity to work closely with hardware assembly and test teams and accompany a spacecraft on its journey to a launch site. Short of launch itself, one of the riskiest phases of the spacecraft’s life is the transport to a place like Kennedy Space Center or Kourou, French Guiana. Our goal is to devise and employ protective systems, eliminating risk to the asset. Whatever your immediate assignment may be, you’ll use your education, experience and team skills to take on formidable challenges. Meanwhile, you can rely on the resources of a global technology leader to back the kind of innovation that has characterized our historic breakthroughs.

Core Team Members are energetic, forward thinking and able to adapt to change. We are mobile. In a typical month, team members can expect to travel 2 or 3 times for a short duration, commonly to locations in California, Colorado, Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana. We are a hands-on team with the hardware and protective equipment, we are not a team focused solely on information flow. So, if you are a looking for a challenge or change of scenery, and don’t mind working with your hands and getting dirty, this may be a real opportunity for you.

In this role, you will focus on mechanical and electrical support for the CORE Team. You will support all critical operations as part of a small, mobile team that packages and handles spacecraft and will also be responsible for material selection and ordering, equipment selection and maintenance, and property custodianship duties.

Summary of Key Duties for this position:
• You will plan, implement, test, document, and maintain solutions for the integration and testing of components, elements, subsystems and/or systems
• You will integrate customer requirements into system test solutions that account for technical, schedule and cost constraints
• You will establish functional and technical specifications and standards, solve hardware/software interface problems, define input/output parameters, and ensure integration of the entire system or subsystem
