Lockheed Martin is looking for a System Engineer to support the SBIRS Flight OPS Support (FOS) team in Sunnyvale as a Senior Segment Lead leading a small team of Segment Leads based in Sunnyvale and Colorado who are responsible for successful design, preparation and execution of the Launch and Early Orbit Test mission phase. This position will support the 2022 SBIRS GEO-6 launch and in parallel support the SBIRS successor program Next Generation GEO (NGG). The NGG effort will include coordinating updates to the LEOT timeline, planning and readiness preparation for NGG launches in 2025, 2026 and 2027.

In this role you will have the opportunity to exercise a breadth of skillsets including, but not limited to:
• Lead the Segment Lead team setting priorities, assignments and coordinating work schedules
• Interface with Mission Payload Subcontractors, customers and various LM organizations
• Brief Flight Operations Support (FOS) status
• Identify and track DRs for assigned Segment to ensure all work in complete and ready to support launch (Displays, Limits, SB, GCS/CPA/CPP/CPS)
• Workaround - Develop technical solutions, coordinate and publish via established processes
• Support product development Peer Reviews
• Support and technical systems engineering lead for assigned segment during execution of the Launch and Early Orbit test phase
• Preform the role of Daily Planner when not leading segment execution
• Schedule resources and interface with external organizations for support
• Participate and lead reviews of schedules and plans to ensure requirements will be met
• Be flexible, motivated, details-focused, collaborative and demonstrate a strong work ethic along with the ability to multi-task.
• Identify and manage risks
• Work with remote and factory SMEs to troubleshoot issues in various domains
• Support Launch and Early Orbit Test readiness and execution cycles along with anomaly recall support

The permanent work location is Sunnyvale with travel to Colorado (5-7 days) for rehearsals and (30 days) travel to Colorado in support of GEO rehearsals and launches

Basic Qualifications:
• Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance required; US citizenship is required
• Candidate must be willing to support occasional shift work and rotating weeks on-call for possible recall support around-the-clock
• Willingness to work occasional overtime and weekend work as required during launch cycles and for anomaly support
• Willingness to occasionally travel to the greater Los Angeles and Denver areas in support of NGG development effort
Desired Skills:
• OPIR domain experience
• Experience with satellite operation
• Experience with day-of-launch timelines and functions
• Experience with early orbit operations including; orbit raising, deployments, payload initialization and anomaly processing
• Familiarity with model-based systems engineering
• Familiarity with Agile Development Process is a plus
• Active Top Secret clearance or above
• Strong communication skills a results-oriented team player, creative thinker and problem-solver
• Flexibility to Learn new things and adapt when required
