The Optical Center of Excellence (OPCoE) Payload Director is a direct report to the Director of OPCoE and is responsible for program execution efforts leading to delivery of OPCoE products to the Special Programs Line of Business. This includes products providing optical remote sensing capability as well as other optical applications that are under contract or proposed. You will provide strategic and organizational leadership to teams that formulate and subsequently execute development and production efforts for this line of business. This includes ensuring offerings fully utilize the common architecture strategy of OPCoE; leveraging the organizational expertise in E-O payloads for LM produced and subcontracted products; providing excellence in execution by managing cost, schedule and technical leadership to projects in execution; and ensuring alignment of LOB goals.

Other responsibilities include:

• Development and delivery of Optical products and subsystems
• Address all requirements, risk, opportunities, and responsibility for the OPCOE product content for the specific program.
• Interact directly with Line of Business (LOB) program leadership and the customers to communicate payload capabilities and delivery on commitments
• Foster a collaboration between OPCoE and Production, next higher-level assembly engineering, and System Engineering organizations to ensure OPCoE products meet the needs and expectations of customers upon final delivery
• Provide program management including employee selection for project leadership roles and staffing assignments, performance assessments, salary determinations, and recognition/disciplinary actions

We are seeking someone who is highly experienced in optical payload program management, and space product subcontracting and production. We are looking for a leader who possesses outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and who demonstrates inclusive behavior and actively cultivates workforce and thought diversity. These qualities will allow you to motivate multi-disciplined teams across the Lockheed Martin Corporation and teammate companies to achieve enterprise objectives.

Position is to be in Sunnyvale, CA. Must be willing to travel.

Basic Qualifications:
• Technical degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
• Technical competence in System Engineering
• Proven success in Program and Technical management
• Demonstrated business development experience (pursuit and capture)
• Experience in development of Optical Payloads for space
US Citizenship required with active TS/SCI clearance required prior to start.
Desired Skills:
• Recent/direct experience with Special Programs LOB and customers
• Cross LOB experience for enterprise coordination
• Ability to develop critical internal communication strategies
• Knowledge of LM processes is strongly desired
• Demonstrated Full Spectrum Leadership
