Lockheed Martin Space’s Advanced Technology Center (ATC) is seeking exceptional research scientists with a strong technical background who demonstrate motivation to discover creative solutions. We are looking for colleagues who are passionate about collaboration across a diverse, high-performing organization.

The Hypersonics group at ATC works to solve the nation’s and Lockheed's toughest problems by ideating, developing, maturing, and transitioning innovating technologies that enable a new generation of hypersonic vehicles, systems, and missions.

Our team supports a wide variety of mission areas and customers, applying groundbreaking disciplines such as mission analysis, vehicle design, materials science, aerothermodynamics, and guidance, navigation & control. We will look for you to provide technical support to senior researchers in the areas of mission development, high temperature materials, flowfield phenomenology, novel GN&C systems, and advanced concepts, and manage and track internal research projects. You will also work with multiple internal customers and generate your own ideas for future R&D maturation and development.

We are seeking someone with strong overall communication skills who can interact effectively with customers, team members, suppliers, and academic/industry collaborators. You should be able to communicate complex ideas and explain relevant technology and concepts to an audience of both experts and non-experts. We will hire someone who can work independently with minimal supervision in a geographically distributed team environment.

Basic Qualifications:
• Exposure or experience with high-speed aerospace vehicles and key performance drivers
• Experience with technical writing, reports, proposals, and/or technical presentations
• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
Desired Skills:
Demonstrated proficiency or mastery of at least several of the desired skills, as well as the interest, motivation, and ability to learn and grow in the other desired skill areas.
