Description:IAM Hourly represented employees who currently work at the main (Sunnyvale/Palo Alto) unit, Santa Cruz, VAFB or Eastern Range facilities must apply to open requisitions on Brass Ring to be considered for the position.

Act as liaison between planners, manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, quality and programs to expedite hardware, tooling and raw materials from the various work centers and buildings. Support pickup and deliveries to and from off campus sites and suppliers. Help locate hardware by coordinating with the appropriate personnel, such as planning, manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, inspection, and various programs. Work within the various computer systems to determine where hardware needs to be delivered. Move raw materials with a forklift as directed. Ensure accurate records are kept on all deliveries.

Procure materials, parts, tools, missile assemblies and government furnished property to alleviate shortages for production, prototype or development work. Investigate production delays in the manufacture of tools, parts, and assemblies, and take necessary action to alleviate chronic holdups and facilitate parts completion. Perform diversified liaison contact between Engineering, Planning and Production organizations to expedite parts completion per schedules.

Determine the cause of critical shortage difficulties, and plan and follow up a course of action to alleviate part completion delays.

Initiate the deletion, changing or routing around of fabrication and assembly operation sequences of substitution of materials by contacting planning or liaison personnel.

Determine the necessity for the writing of splits, rescheduling of open orders and take other action necessary to insure completion of parts in fabrication or assembly organizations and scheduled delivery to using point designation.
Locate misplaced or lost paperwork, parts or tools by contacting master and other files, tool cribs, and appropriate shop planning, inspection, materiel and other personnel.

Receive notification of stockroom cushion breaks, and investigate open orders and initiate release of balance stock orders to cover current assembly line production requirements.

Compare indicated stock balances with parts required per specific time intervals to insure availability of stock cushions.

Convey job status data to production control, tool planning and design personnel, shop supervision and others to secure authorization for changes required to break shortages.

Contact other dispatching personnel to determine the progress of orders "in-process" and reflect job status to using points.

Checking planning survey folders, order writing and other records to obtain routing.

Prepare, maintain and submit necessary reports to supervision or his delegate concerning the status and course of action taken to eliminate shortages.
Basic Qualifications:
Must possess a valid State of California Class C driver’s license.
Must possess and continue to maintain all LMSC-issued safety licenses required by law to operate material handling equipment normally used by employees in this classification.

Complete knowledge of material handling of critical high value hardware and hazardous materials requirements as they relate to the performance of the above duties.

Able to lift up to 50 pounds

Knowledge of functions and operations performed in tooling, fabrication and assembly shops. Knowledge of planning, scheduling, engineering and procurement functions. Knowledge of the location of parts and equipment stored within stockrooms, project and standard tool cribs, and material storerooms. Ability to trace tools, parts, materials, assemblies and miscellaneous production control documents. Ability to use tact and diplomacy in diversified contacts.
