Senior Litigation Paralegal

Description:Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems (RMS) is looking for a Paralegal to join its Legal Operations team. The Paralegal’s primary area of responsibility will consist of providing support as the Senior Litigation and Compliance Paralegal to internal line of business and functional attorneys, and the Manager, Legal Operations.

Tasks will include support in the following areas:

Litigation:

- Serve as the primary service of process contact for Rotary and Mission Systems, including Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation and its related subsidiaries
- Review and respond to subpoenas and other requests for information, including but not limited to, third party subpoenas, government and/or agency subpoenas, investigative demands or other requests for information
- Review records requests or other requests for information received by Human Resources, Medical Office or other internal departments
- Review and coordinate the handling of wage executions or other requests for information related to payroll-related inquires or matters
- Issuance and tracking of preservation notices
- Discovery: Fact finding, including internal client interviews, document collection and related review and production, including eDiscovery support
- Organize and maintain all litigation and other files for the Sikorsky legal department and other lines of business, as needed

Operations:

-Review of legal department invoices in connection with litigation and other matters
-Conduct legal research as requested by internal attorneys and clients
-Identify and, after consultation with the Paralegal Manager, Legal Operations at RMS, implement best practices to further advance the functionalization of litigation and compliance processes and protocols utilized by the RMS Paralegal team
-Complete other projects as may be assigned by the Paralegal Manager – Legal Operations and/or RMS line of business or functional counsel

People:
-Working as the Team Lead for Litigation and Compliance, mentor and collaborate with paralegal colleagues on litigation and compliance matters generally
-Collaborate with line of business and functional in-house and external counsel as needed

Basic Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Paralegal role will have:
- Demonstrated comfort working on a fast-paced team supporting in-house attorneys and clients from various lines of business and functions;
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues
- Critical thinking skills with a learning orientation and keen attention to detail
- A self-starter with exceptional time management and project planning skills;
- Significant experience with litigation, including complex high visibility matters;
- An Associates Degree coupled with a paralegal certificate or higher, plus at least 7-10 years of litigation experience (preferably from combined law firm and in-house experience)
Desired Skills:
-Experience with commercial litigation, including product liability claims
-Experience with employment matters at the agency level and in state and federal court
-Experience with False Claims Act (“qui tam”) matters
-Familiarity with U.S. Government compliance standards – FAR compliance in DoD context
-Experience with PowerPoint and Excel, ability to produce metrics and other briefings to the Manager, Legal Operations and in-house counsel
