Quality Engineer Lab Analyst

Description:This role in the Sikorsky M&P QA lab will be focused on facilitating the adoption of new processes in the areas of quality testing of raw materials, in-process material testing, non-destructive testing, and introducing innovative approaches to product and process quality. A significant portion of the candidate’s time in the role will be spent in the administration of project management functions and coordinating activities across multiple departments to ensure timely completion of process improvement objectives.
This role will help develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems, and protocols for processing materials or partially finished products. The successful candidate will collaborate with quality, engineering, manufacturing, and other support functions to ensure processes are employed to ensure material conformance.
The candidate will facilitate the design and deployment of inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conduct quality assurance tests; and perform statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
Basic Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills
A track record of successful project management
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment
Experience working in a highly regulated industry
Experience working in an AS9100 and/or ISO 9000 Quality system
Familiarity with the manufacture of aerospace/composite materials
Vision correctable to 20/25 in at least one eye
Ability to perform physical tasks in a laboratory environment: Lifting 20 pounds, stepping over a 10" threshold to enter walk-in freezers and/or non-destructive testing areas, unrolling, measuring, and cutting composite materials, performing visual inspections of materials, using basic hand tools, and standing/walking for up to an hour at a time.
Desired Skills:
Experience with aerospace manufacturing
Experience working with Military Customers/DCMA
Familiarity with Sikorsky quality systems
Experience addressing audit findings by performing root cause analysis and providing objective evidence of corrective actions.
Proficiency with Microsoft office suite
Familiarity with Non-destructive testing methodologies
Strong clerical/administrative skills.
