THE WORK
The Materials Manager for the Avionics Product Center will oversee and direct the planning, organizing, and execution of the material logistics activities in order to ensure the orderly and timely flow of materials from suppliers to the warehouse and onto the production floor. The primary focus is to develop and maintain a materials operating system which will enable the Avionics Product Center to meet/exceed production and delivery goals, while minimizing logistics costs and optimizing inventory levels to increase turnover performance.

Primary Responsibilities
1. Drives the development and cultivation of positive business relationships with the company's internal logistics customers and external vendors; directs service-related performance reviews in order to identify service improvement opportunities and to manage costs.
2. Selects, motivates, trains and ensures the development of a highly capable and flexible organization.
3. Establishes robust and effective logistics programs, practices and procedures that minimize disruptions to production due to material flow problems. Using Lean tools, updates and develops process documentation, streamlines opportunities, and eliminates non-value added activities.
4. Communicates daily priorities and production part requirements to the logistics staff (both warehouse and production control) to assure that the material flow supports the build plan and facilitates on-time deliveries.
5. Works closely with buyers and suppliers on issues affecting the order flow process by: forecasting delays, product issues, or other situations that could impact schedule.
6. Coordinates closely with both Industrial Engineering and Planning to update the long- term production plan, associated build targets and required inventory level by manufacturing cell / value stream.
7. Implements proper controls for work order management, and develop a robust system to determine work order release schedules. Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts and reconciling with inventory data in SAP.
8. Optimizes inventory through effective planning and the leveraging of lean principles.
9. Ensures all material and kits are delivered to the production floor timely and accurately from storage.
10. Coordinates gap analysis on short kits to ensure missing items are filled for production.
11. Develops, monitors and controls a department budget that will effectively contribute to the overall manufacturing objectives and plant / business unit and company goals.
12. Monitors and ensures departmental personnel conform to company policies and procedures while maintaining a safe and cost efficient environment at all time.
13. Becomes familiar with and ethically operates in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and governmental procedures relative to purchasing and financial reporting activities.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required for consideration

- 8+ years of experience in a professional logistics role, demonstrating superior organization, planning and delegation skills. 3-5 years in a managerial/supervision position supervising employees both hourly and salaried.

- Must have ability to respond quickly and effectively to shifting priorities and emergency situations that could adversely impact the flow of parts to the production floor.

- Requires proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS office applications with the ability to learn new programs that may be job specific.

- Must have demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement /Lean efforts and cost reduction initiatives.
Desired Skills:
- Requires strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills in a high volume work environment.

- Master's degree in Supply Chain Management or Business preferred or relatable work experience.

- Requires experience working with an SAP ERP system; APICS Certification a plus.

- Familiarity with the SMCC.

- Experience in leading a represented workforce

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
