Sikorsky Innovations is seeking an experienced individual in the field of electric hybrid drivetrain design, analysis and simulation. The position will serve as one of the organization’s technical focal points for new initiatives investigating the integration of high-power electric drive and subsystems into the company’s current and future products. This position will support the identification and maturation of a portfolio of more- and all-electric technologies, spanning near-term opportunities to “blue ocean” competitive discriminators and new business concepts.
Basic Qualifications:
The preferred candidate should at least 7 years of experience designing electric hybrid drivetrains for large vehicles (100KW+), experience with design of high voltage motor control systems using modern semiconductors (SiC, etc.), experience with management of large battery banks, energy management through DC-DC and AC-DC convertors (including converter design). Experience with applications where component and system weight were a key priority is strongly preferred.

The preferred candidate should possess strong analytical and technical skills, with demonstrable ability to understand complex systems, identify both opportunities and hurdles to electric propulsion integration, and develop conceptual and detailed modeling tools to capture potential impacts and benefits at the vehicle/system level.

The preferred candidate will also have substantial experience in cross-functional coordination with technical disciplines involved in hardware prototyping activities. The preferred candidate should also have a demonstrated ability on mentoring team members as well as developing technical talent in key areas of hybrid drivetrain design.
Desired Skills:
The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of designing and implementing large-scale electric propulsion systems into complex transportation (non-stationary) applications, and a deep technical knowledge of all relevant aspects of such systems. The ideal candidate will have served in leadership positions of rapid prototyping teams and will have also worked with autonomous or highly automated systems as part of their electric propulsion integration background.
