This position is for a Design Engineer in the Sikorsky Aircraft Design Group. We design, develop and support elegant and safe aircraft solutions that exceed customer expectations for mission success.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Design Engineer to join the Transmission Systems team. The ideal candidate will work in all aspects of transmission drive system design, from conceptual trade studies thru fabrication and test.

Responsibilities for this position include:
• Work under supervision to transition the conceptual design into a producible design
• Perform preliminary drawing layouts in 2-D and 3-D modeling, and kinematic simulation
• Create detail and assembly drawings using precision machine design tolerance stack-ups.
• Interact with Structural Analysts, Material and Process Engineers, Suppliers, and Test Engineers to complete drawing releases
• Engineering support of development, test, and validation of new designs
• Coordination with suppliers, internal and external integrated product teams
• Technical engineering support for manufacturing, installation and testing at Sikorsky and external supplier facilities
• Transmission design solutions for fielded aircraft, test aircraft and production assembly of aircraft

The job may include travel for on-site support and close physical access to prototype and development aircraft for build, ground test, and flight test operations stateside.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of professional experience; or a Master’s degree with no experience. Professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment
Desired Skills:
• Laying out gearbox and drive systems
• Familiarity with structural analysis and principles of fatigue methodology
• Experience with CAD 3D modeling, drafting, and GD&T practices.
• Good verbal communication and technical writing skills.
• Ability to interpret requirements, bills of material, and engineering drawings.
• Experience in vehicle design and maintenance, especially aircraft.
• Experience with CATIA V5, CATIA V6, ANSYS, ROMAX, COBRA, JONES.
