Description:Join a high-performance quick-turn manufacturing team where you'll turn complex engineering designs into precise, efficient CNC programs. In this role, you'll take ownership of programming, validation, and continuous improvement efforts, while supporting new product introduction and ramp-up to full-rate production. Your work will directly impact production readiness, quality, and throughput.
Key Responsibilities:
• You will be the Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer with a focus on Machining and Design for Manufacturability for the Manufacturing team.
• You will be responsible for Mechanical Design Support: partner with Mechanical Engineering, PHST and Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) design teams on fabrication of parts, assemblies and testing of non-flight hardware used to assemble, integrate, and transport satellites and spacecraft.
• Design, fabricate, assembly of shop aids or tooling fixtures in support of manufacturing processes.
• Production Machine Shop Floor Support: Provide real-time floor support to quickly resolve production constraints and ensure continuous product flow.
• Corrective Action Development: Conduct root cause analysis and develop / implement actions aimed at improving the production system, focusing on reducing Scrap, Rework, and Repair (SRR) rates, as well as Hours Per Unit (HPU).
• Metal Fabrication Manufacturing Plan Updates: Revise and enhance the Manufacturing Plan to incorporate new technologies and prevent defects.
• Engineering Change Evaluations: Conduct manufacturing evaluations of engineering changes, ensuring that modifications align with production capabilities.
• Technical Production Support: Offer technical support to Production Operations, including machinists and other key personnel, to maintain smooth product flow and operations.
• Cost Reduction Initiatives: Lead efforts to create product span and cost-reduction initiatives to streamline production and increase profitability.
• Standard Manufacturing Engineering Duties: Engage in key tasks such as design reviews, drawing reviews, MRRs to optimize the manufacturing process.
Basic Qualifications:
• Ability to perform Design for Manufacturability reviews with Engineering for producibility and efficiency.
• Ability to review fabrication drawings for accuracy.
• Knowledgeable of machining processes, able to evaluate and resolve machining problems
• Experience creating, revising, and validating CNC machining programs that drive efficient, repeatable production
• Verify programs through prove outs on production machines and ensure proper work holding and tooling specifications
• Create and update manufacturing work instructions while troubleshooting production issues on the shop floor
• Train machine operators and support acquisition/installation of new equipment to enable rate increases and continuous improvement
• Experience creating CNC machining programs for production parts
• Experience with 3D CAD software SolidWorks or Creo experience
• Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings and GD&T
• Experience with some or all of the following machine types: VMCs, HMCs, CNC lathes, Mill-turn, and Gantry Mills
• Experience programming G-code at the machine
• Experience working in MasterCAM
• Experience designing/specifying custom work-holding
• Experience resolving engineering, production, tooling &/or assembly issues.
• Experience with inspection of fabricated parts and CMM
• Experience with configuration management processes and tools like EPDM.
• Experience with part marking
• Experience providing labor and material estimates for prototype and production programs.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.)
• Experience mentoring both Mechanical Engineers and Machinists plus the ability to step in and lead the machine shop as needed
• US Citizen with the ability to obtain & maintain a security clearance
Desired Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree or significant industry experience (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, etc.)
• Manufacturing Engineering Experience or Support Roles (IE, QE, MRB) on assemble, integrate, and transport satellites and spacecraft
• Problem Solving Skills -Demonstrated ability to drive closure and resolve complex, large-scale technical issues/challenges
• Capital expenditure (CapEx) experience (MFG Machinery, Technology, Tooling assets, etc.)
• Knowledge of Space manufacturing and Standard Tooling processes
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with internal and cross functional teams; Production Operations, Quality, Design Engineering, Supply Chain.
• Experience with additive and subtractive manufacturing techniques and equipment (e.g. 3D printing etc.)
• Experience with Augmented Reality implementation within manufacturing processes (1LMx initiative).
• Active Secret security clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $99,700 - $175,835. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
