Staff IT Project Engineer – Server & Storage Platforms

Job Responsibilities
Description:Overview:
The Project Engineer/Coordinator acts as the primary liaison between Business Area (BA) engineers and the Server/Storage Platform Services team. This role ensures clear communication, alignment, and coordination of IT services and projects. The individual will manage demand and capability reviews, support stakeholder engagement, and drive successful delivery of IT infrastructure services in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Demand Management:
o Review and assess incoming IT service demands with the Server/Storage Platform Services team.
o Collaborate with requestors to explore enterprise-wide solutions and alternatives.
o Work with platform teams to prioritize and schedule demands effectively.
2. Capability Review:
o Evaluate new capability requests submitted by engineers.
o Provide technical feedback to the Server/Storage teams.
o Coordinate with other BA Coordinators and stakeholders to gather insights and support responses.
3. Stakeholder Engagement:
o Interface with key stakeholders, including BA users, to understand requirements and share updates on Platform services and IT project statuses.
4. Meeting Participation:
o Represent the team in various meetings, such as:
Demand Review Meetings
New Capability Review Sessions
Stakeholder Meetings
IT Solutions Review Board
Change Advisory Board (CAB) Meetings
Legacy Product End-of-Life (EOL) Reviews
5. Cross-Team Collaboration:
o Work collaboratively with:
Server/Storage account teams
BA engineers and other BA Coordinators
IT Operations and HPC teams
6. Communication Management:
o Ensure smooth communication between engineers and infrastructure teams.
o Provide timely updates on demands, capability reviews, and changes to Platform services.
o Escalate technical issues or project risks to appropriate teams when necessary.
7. Process Improvement:
o Identify and propose enhancements to workflows and coordination processes.
o Partner with Server/Storage teams to implement operational improvements.
8. Procurement & Order Management:
o Generate purchase requests (PR) and purchase orders (PO).
o Track and ensure timely delivery of hardware/software.
o Coordinate with vendors and internal finance teams to review and reconcile invoices.
9. Budget Oversight:
o Monitor and manage budgets, track expenditures, and provide monthly financial updates.
o Support forecasting and consolidation of budget data.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Over 10 years + of experience in Information Technology, with a solid foundation in servers, storage systems, and operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.). High Performance Computing (HPC) experience is a plus.
• Proven background in infrastructure and operations, with a strong focus on customer service.
• In-depth knowledge of IT solutions and experience working with cross-functional IT teams and resources.
• Hands-on expertise in IT infrastructure, including networking, server and storage management, and end-user support.
• Experience in program and project management; PMP certification or equivalent is a plus.
Desired Skills:
• Technical expertise in High Performance Computing (HPC), cloud platforms such as AWS, and management of servers, storage, and core IT infrastructure services
• Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities, with a track record of effective cross-functional teamwork
• Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced environments while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
• Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks, principles, and best practices
• Experience engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including both technical and non-technical audiences

Ability to Work Remotely: Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $120,100 - $208,150. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.
