Description:This position is an opportunity with the historic Skunk Works® for a Technical Publications Associate Writer to develop and author technical publications for complex military aeronautics systems. It draws on your education and experience developing technical publications that may include maintenance instructions, operating instructions, parts catalogs, or other technical documentation. Experience with digital publishing would add benefit to the team. Ability to effectively work with multiple engineering, software, supportability, and logistics disciplines will lead to success in developing technical publications skills.
The successful candidate will have a degree in Technical Communication, Aerospace Engineering, or a field related to either one of those. Working under close supervision, you will develop and field technically accurate and military standard compliant technical documentation for complex systems. Experience in verification and validation of technical publications is highly desirable, as well as in interpreting engineering drawings, commercial technical orders, technical drawings and schematics.

Must be a US Citizen, as the position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline Technical Communication, Journalism, Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science, and English

- Education or experience authoring, editing or revising technical publications products.
Desired Skills:
- Experience authoring technical publications for complex military aeronautics publications
- General experience or exposure to integrating Isometric illustrations or other graphical illustrations into an interactive electronic manual format.
- Ability to effectively work with multiple engineering, software, supportability, and logistics disciplines to develop highly accurate technical manuals
- Experience verifying and validating technical publications
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel and Access
- Experience with Arbortext, Adobe, Photoshop, CATIA and IsoDraw software tools
- Good communications and presentation skills.
