Job Responsibilities
Description:PERFORMS SUCH TYPICAL DISTINGUISHING DUTIES AS:
Determines type of container, proper size, type of wood, wood product and/or other materials to be used and constructs standard, non-standard and special storage and shipping crates, boxes and pallets where information is not readily available and it is required to have a knowledge of carpentry practices and procedures; determines sequence of operations for the construction of the container including internal blocking, bracing, and securing devices for the items to be packed; makes sketches, prepares list of materials required for the number of containers to be constructed, makes layouts, cuts material to required lengths, widths and contours; assembles components into finished container using nails, screws, bolts or other accepted methods; installs special hardware and cushioning.
Maintains files and data in Systems Applications and Products (SAP) of various crates, performs transactions for shipments, boxes and pallets which have previously been constructed, including such information as sketches, list of materials such as type and size of lumber (wood), fasteners, hardware, and miscellaneous items to be used, dimensions for each component to be cut and fabricated, and a sequence of operations from preparation of material to final assembly.
Performs such operations as sawing, drilling, and fastening using such tools as table saw, radial arm saw, bandsaw, and various hand powered saws, drill press, hand drill motors, power screwdrivers and nailing guns. Uses carpenter’s hand and hand-power tools such as hammer, handsaws, squares, planes, routers, and sanders.
Makes templates and shop aids for use in layout of irregular shapes, hole locations, hardware positioning and for use during the assembly of container.
May perform carpentry work other than described above on other non-maintenance items where information is not available.
May be required to work to company or customer specifications.
May be required to work to sketches and blueprints.
May require ability to obtain and maintain Company licenses, certifications, and training as required for assigned tasks.
PERFORMS SUCH RELATED DUTIES AS:
May work with other authorized personnel to determine proper type and size of unit required and packaging.
Performs modification and rework of the level of difficulty described above when required.
Cuts and applies stencils as required. Operates hand forklift, hand trucks, and pendant cranes.
May perform shipping duties to include packaging and shipping as applicably related to the job duties described above.

Basic Qualifications:
Must be able to understand and work to sketches and blueprints.
Must have two years of experience in carpentry work.
Experience using computer work station.
Desired Skills:
Stencil work
Operates hand forklift and hand trucks.
Experience using carpenter’s hand and hand-power tools such as hammer, handsaws, squares, planes, routers and sanders.
Experience in shipping and material handling.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Secret

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
The base range for this position in California is $20.35 - 39.82.
