Description:The NextGen MM3D development team needs a mid-career Computational Electromagnetics (CEM) software developer. This new hire to the team will fill a capability vacancy and provide critical help in:
(1) CEM algorithm research and development;
(2) implementation and integration of CEM algorithms in established code base;
(3) testing and benchmarking of new code components and algorithms;
(4) software documentation and training; and
(5) deploying, tuning, and performance optimization of complex software to standard engineering workstations and high-performance computing environments.
Lockheed Martin is seeking a motivated Senior Computational Electromagnetics (CEM) Software Developer for a position with the Palmdale Advanced Development Programs CEM Codes and Tools team. The developer will help engineer high-quality state-of-the-art electromagnetic solvers and contribute to all phases of the development process, including the design, test, release, deployment, and maintenance of CEM codes and tools.

This role requires that the software developer interface with other junior and senior software developers, CEM codes and tools users, Information Technology (IT) and computer administrators (Admins), and management and leadership personnel.

The ideal candidate must work well in a team environment, have excellent writing and presentation skills, have effective interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively under a deadline. The candidate is expected to quickly come up to speed with the tools and practices of the CEM Codes and Tools team, work scope, technical requirements, risks, and delivery milestone schedules. The software developer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Research and evaluate current, evolving and new CEM algorithms
• Design and implement parallel and scalable software programs that take advantage of High Performance Computing (HPC) environments
• Establish software test requirements, write test documentation, and identify root causes of software failures and associated corrective actions
• Perform new CEM code testing
• Perform numerical and physical benchmarking of new code components and algorithms
• Write and review software documentation, training tools, and technical information related to development activities
• Deploy, tune and optimize complex software to standard engineering workstations and HPC environments

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree (with 9+ years’ experience) / Master’s degree (with 7+ years’ experience) / PhD degree (with 5+ years’ experience) in Computational Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics
• 1-2 years of experience in software development as part of a small development team
• Strong background in Computational Electromagnetics (as a developer)
• Strong background in linear algebra
• Background in Radar Cross Section (RCS), or understanding of electromagnetic scattering from complex targets
• Experience with MPI and OpenMP parallel programming
Desired Skills:
• Proficiency with scientific computing programming languages, particularly Modern Fortran, C, and/or C++
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, bash)
• Experience developing software in Linux environments
• Strong communication skills, a results-oriented team player, creative thinker and problem-solver
• Follows all ethical standards of the Lockheed Martin Corporation.
