The Metallurgy Material & Process Engineer Senior will apply metallic engineering principles to enable manufacturing (and/or research and development) of metallic parts, wrought titanium alloys, aluminum alloys, high temperature alloys, Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI), welding, metals processing, and/or metal parts fabrication processes. Material and Process (M&P) tasks include:
1) Interface with engineers and suppliers regarding technical issues concerning raw metallic materials, parts fabrication, new materials/processes, and/or review of manufacturing plans
2) involved in metallic research/qualification plans and technical presentations
3) Material characterization and process development
4) Proper selection of materials and processes for parts and products
5) Participate in structural lay-outs and design reviews
6) Participate in non-conformance disposition and corrective action processes
7) Author metallic specifications
8) Generate and present technical presentations

The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.

***Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. Must have the ability to obtain a clearance.***

A level 3 employee Typically has 5-10 years of professional experience.

This position is in Palmdale, CA Discover Palmdale.
Basic Qualifications:
Engineering or other technical (STEM) bachelor's, master's or PhD degree.

Minimum 2 years experience working with metallic materials, processes, fabrication/manufacturing methods, test, and/or inspection processes.
Desired Skills:
Degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or Metallurgy highly preferred.

Familiar with raw material processing, forging, casting, and extrusion.

Familiar with raw metallic fabrication processing including welding, forming, machining heat treatment, non-destructive inspections, and related metal processing.

Experience with material characterization techniques and process development.

Experience creating and revising material and process specifications, reports, and test plans.

Experience reading and interpreting drawings and/or schematics.

Experience with non-conformance disposition and corrective action processes.

Strong verbal and written communication/interpersonal skills.

Experience preparing and delivering technical presentations.

Project management skills.
