Description:Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company and its research and development line-of-business, The Skunk Works, seeks a motivated and enthusiastic candidate to join the Low Observables team (Signature Management & Survivability). Specifically, we seek to identify a candidate with expertise in the following disciplines:
- Aircraft stealth signature reduction and low observables (LO) phenomenology
- Radar cross-section (RCS) susceptibility
- Electromagnetics (EM), computational electromagnetics (CEM)
- LO project/program management
A Security Clearance will be required for those that apply and the candidate must ultimately qualify for a Top Secret clearance. The candidate must be a US Citizen as this position is located at a facility that requires special access.
The candidate will be working in a high-paced environment responsible for low observable technology maturation lifecycle from initial concept, internal research and development (IRAD) project implementation, modeling and simulation, prototype build and test, external customer communication and marketing, proposal and contract capture, contract research and development (CRAD) leadership, and transition to production fleet. The candidate will work self-guided and in small teams and participate in Government forums and internal Skunk Works program reviews as an emerging LO signature advisor.
Typical responsibilities may include:
- Responsible for performing, analyzing, and communicating vehicle signature predictions using Unix-based codes and tools.
- Responsible for planning and/or executing laboratory measurements of material coupons to determine physical, electrical, and/or environmental properties.
- Engagement in the research, design, computational electromagnetic modeling, fabricating, and testing of advanced electromagnetic metamaterials.
- Responsible for planning, performing, post-processing, and communicating the results of laboratory, field, flight, and vehicle signature measurements.
- Writing and using scripts to batch analysis and post-processing.
- Engagement in the algorithm development, test, and maintenance of signature prediction tools using python, C++, C#, Java, and Fortran.
- Responsible for dreaming and developing new novel approaches to resolving difficult problems
The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills for final reports and technical briefings to large groups. An ability to explain complex technical concepts in a readily comprehensible manner is an advantage. The candidate should or will develop experience in customer/client interaction and preparing effective technical proposals. This will include the ability to perceive customer needs, develop a compelling technical approach to meeting those needs, clearly and concisely describe a plan for implementing the technical approach, and provide reasonable cost/schedule estimates for the work needed. The candidate will be expected to develop and implement R&D plans to meet needs defined by management or by the customer. The candidate will typically work without technical direction, but they may be called upon to provide technical direction for others. The candidate will participate in and ultimately lead multidisciplinary design teams to resolve challenging aircraft survivability problems in the low observables, infrared signature reduction, and LO realm.

Basic Qualifications:
The following are absolutely required for those that apply:

- Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Optics

- Experience in RF, CEM, electromagnetics, IR, optics, or photonics

- U.S. Citizenship
- Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance
Desired Skills:
The following attributes are desired/preferred but not required for consideration:
- Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance or TS//SCI
- Recognized experience in low observables (LO), survivability, or susceptibility
- Experience with radar cross section reduction (RCSR) or radio-frequency (RF) antenna design/integration
- Expertise in LO modeling and predictions: Computational electromagnetics (CEM), Hybrid Finite Element, Boundary Integral method (FE-BI), Method of Moments (MoM), Xpatch, SENTRi, HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, FDTD
- Experience with LO integration / multi-discipline air vehicle systems design
- Knowledge of RADAR, RF materials, RF material measurements
- Cultivation, pursuit, capture, project or program management, and execution of signature technology IRAD & CRAD projects
- Programming with C/C++, Java, Fortran, Matlab, Python
