Description:Lockheed is looking for a Technical Writer to support various fixed wing and/or rotary winged aircraft, such as A-10 ad MH-60. In this position you will be expected to interpret, paraphrase and rewrite engineering source data into a form suitable for the customer. You will acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. You will use your strong technical reading, writing and editing skills to interpret MIL-STDs which will be used as the basis of the manual.

This position requires an active Secret clearance with an investigation in the past 5 years to be considered.
Basic Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE/PERFORMANCE: Experience and proven superior performance in designing new technical manuals or products IAW government customer specifications. Including but not limited to S1000D. Proven superior performance in working in close concert with customer, developing new type manuals or products where there is little to no point of departure/starting point (ie. creating manuals from scratch). This is critical in the areas we are pursuing. Must be the go to person and able to reason and solve problems unilaterally. Requires some travel and excellent customer relations.
TECHNICAL: Technical knowledge of, and experience with, the operation and maintenance of the fix wing and rotary wing aircraft platforms. Knowledge of latest software utilized in technical manual development. Ability to convey complex, technical information effectively and succinctly in written form. Must be able to interpret, paraphrase and rewrite engineering source data into a form suitable for the customer. Ability to write with XML and SGML editors, primarily Arbortext.
Ability to search, retrieve, update and store data to Integrated Digital Environment database repository and sharepoint repositories.
INTERPERSONAL: Must be able to work in an environment with a Team Leader as supervisor. Taking and following daily direction from functional Team Lead. Ability to obtain and maintain cooperative relationships with peers. Candidate must also possess good interpersonal skills (both for written and oral communications); and be capable of working independently or as part of a team. Must be able to hold up under intense scrutiny by government customer and stay positive, with Can Do Attitude.
WORK MANAGEMENT: Ability to organize effectively, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and complete tasks on time without daily supervision.
Desired Skills:
Self-motivated, eager to learn, and willingness to take on new responsibilities. Able to work independently with direction or as part of a team. Must be a fast learner and able to perform independently in a dynamic environment. Experience on generating technical orders for maintenance actions and operations of various aircraft.
