Description:Responsible for supporting the daily and long term maintenance and functionality of the Owego Central Utility (Power) Plant Equipment, along with other facilities equipment/systems to insure efficient and consistent operation and to keep the Owego CUP/Facilities equipment functioning at optimal performance levels. Technician will provide both Preventive Maintenance, as well as condition assessments and testing to drive a more predictive maintenance environment. Operates and maintains stationary engines and mechanical equipment such as steam generators and steam turbines, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, air compressors, turbo blowers, electric motors, diesel generators, pumps, heaters, and boilers to provide utilities such as light, heat, or power for buildings and industrial processes. May be required to inspect equipment and performs preventive maintenance measures and routine operational adjustments such as lubricating and cleaning filters, motors, and other equipment. Records data such as temperatures, pressures, water levels, and voltage and makes any necessary adjustments. Technician will occasionally need to work directly with vendors and/or other support groups to assist in resolving equipment issues or concerns.
Basic Qualifications:
Specialized training in specific aspects of job functions and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks, and minimum 1-3 years of experience in power plant operation and central utility plant maintenance with demonstrated mechanical, electrical, and pipe-fitting experience. Experience with predictive maintenance strategies, root cause analysis, and Reliability Centered Maintenance practices. Flexibility to work multiple shifts or schedules as Facilities and equipment needs dictate
Desired Skills:
Experience with operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting commercial/industrial boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, generators, RO water systems, pumps, fans, variable speed drives, and chemical analysis/water treatment. Knowledge of building automation (Allen Bradley, GE, Trane Tracer Summit, Siemens) in a power plant and manufacturing environment. HVAC/electrical controls, experience with CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) software with ability to plan, prioritize, and execute work independently and as part of a team.
