Description:This position offers a hands-on, self-motivated candidate to impact the health and safety at one of the largest facilities in the Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) organization. Working alongside a high functioning Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S) team, the candidate will tackle challenging health and safety risks in a number of different processes and work environments. This position offers the candidate opportunities for growth both personally and professionally as the interact and work together with other departments and groups to reduce the overall risk to the site and improve health and safety.
This position is located at the RMS Integrated Warfare Systems and Sensors (IWSS) facility in Owego, NY. The 1.6 million square foot facility supports a number of different operations and processes including Printed Wiring Board Manufacturing, Electrical Assembly Manufacturing, Helicopter and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Flight Operations, CNC and Manual Machining/Painting/Assembly, Additive/3D printing, Waste Water Treatment, and Engineering Labs. The successful candidate can expect to encounter daily activities like, but not limited to, the following:
• Evaluating chemical use for existing and new applications
• Applying experience and knowledge to manage the Industrial Hygiene Sampling Plan
• Act as the point of contact for radiation and laser concerns
• Participate in facilities improvement projects, specifically evaluating for hazardous substances, waste, and asbestos
• Support the sites EH&S management systems (OSHA VPP, ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
Basic Qualifications:
• 10 or more years of Industrial Hygiene Experience
• Active Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certified
• Working knowledge of OSHA standards
• Experience working in a team environment with multi-functional disciplines and experience in driving continuous improvement.

- Effective oral and written communication skills.

- Adept with Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel and Word).
Desired Skills:
• Active Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certified or willing to obtain
• Laser Safety Officer (LSO) certified or willing to obtain
• Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) certified or willing to obtain
• Working knowledge of NY State Safety & Health Standards (ie: 12 NYCRR Part 56, 10 NYCRR Part 16…)
• NY State Asbestos Inspector certified or willing to obtain
• Experience managing or supporting EH&S Management System(s)
• Experience supporting HazMat operations and/or certified HazMat Technician
• Experience working in a team environment with multi-functional disciplines and experience in driving continuous improvement.
