Description:This position is for a software engineer with responsibilities in the integration, testing, maintenance, and delivery of the flight training devices for the Fighter, Maritime & Mobility Training Solutions business area. The selected candidate will work with a multiple-disciplinary team skilled in aviation simulation development. Duties will include:
• Ensure product and process quality throughout the development life cycle via robust application of best practices in disciplined use of software engineering, source control, and bug tracking; conduct design and process reviews; adherence to robust test regime using a multi-layered test approach
• Develop process architecture, design definition and description, requirements definition, and support for testing
• Support the bid and proposal process by establishing and maintaining consistent execution, productivity, and quality metrics; support the technical solution by providing insight into the testing regime necessary to support end-user training needs
• Coordinate with department manager on staffing requirements and priorities
• Assume Agile leadership responsibilities including assisting product leads to define features as well as guiding and supporting scrum teams in agile execution environment - participation in daily scrums, sprint/increment planning, demos, and retrospectives.
• Mentoring and training engineers new to the domain
• Track and manage risks as defined in coordination with product managers and product owners
Basic Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree in a software engineering, computer science, computer engineering or related engineering discipline
• Must function well in a creative, high-tempo, collaborative, cross-functional, dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment
• Expert experience (8+ years) with the development life cycle as a software engineer
• Strong working experience with simulation systems, Agile Development, COTS Integration and comfortability with interdisciplinary tasking
• Extensive experience with and knowledge of radar systems
• Strong operational experience in both Windows and Linux/Unix environment
• Proven ability to guide/mentor a team to drive results
• Experience being a customer liaison and communicating technical and business priorities at all organizational levels
• Experience practicing and leading in agile development methodologies
• Experience with continuous integration and developing/executing capability build up plans for verification of components of a much larger developing product
Desired Skills:
• Strong technical leadership experience with an ability to work with ambiguous requirements
• Experience with the Atlassian suite of tools (Jira, Fisheye, Crucible, Bitbucket, Confluence)
• Strong Git/Jenkins experience
• Control Account Management experience
• Experience with automated test frameworks
• Experience delivering product to customer requirements in a DevOps environment
• Experience with IBM DOORS and requirements management
• Domain expertise within the F-16 aircraft platform (e.g. weapon systems, avionics, flight modeling, etc.)
• Pilot experience
