Description:Lockheed Martin is seeking a Senior Propulsion Engineer for our Missiles & Fire Control facility in Orlando, FL.

The Senior Propulsion Engineer will be recognized as a subject matter expert in thermodynamics of engines for missile applications, with both rocket and turbojet or turbofan experience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Performing propulsion system engineering trade studies for tactical missile programs to select optimum engine configuration (for all types, air breather and rocket).

Modifying /updating missile propulsion model for unique flight profiles.

Performing launch analysis and developing propulsion model for incorporation into C++6-DOF flight performance simulation by the GNC team.

Assisting Aero and GNC teams in validation propulsion model performance in both rocket boost and air-breathing flight regimes.

Overseeing integration of air-breathing engines into missile vehicles; especially engine inlet / vehicle interaction in an integrated product development team environment.

Familiar with and capable of writing engine specification and Statement of Work documents.

Orlando is about an hour's drive from Cocoa Beach and the "space coast" to include NASA and the Kennedy Space Center.

Tampa is about 1 and ¼ hours from Orlando.

West Palm Beach is about 2.5 hours to the south and Jacksonville is about 2 hours to the northeast.

Atlanta, GA is 6 hours to the northwest.

Basic Qualifications:
MUST be a U.S. Citizen and hold an Active Department of Defense Top Secret Clearance.

Bachelor's Degree (mechanical or aerospace engineering preferred) AND 5+ years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.

Must have experience supporting propulsion engineering efforts.

Strong analytical skills in one or more of the following:

Thermodynamics and fluid dynamics, including Computational Fluid Dynamics (preferably Star CCM or equivalent)

Trajectory simulations of Liquid Fuel Integral Rocket Ramjets

Variable Flow Ducted Rockets (VFDR)

Solid Rocket Motors (SRM)
Desired Skills:
Working knowledge of air-breathing turbine engines, including but not limited to:

Expendable (missile) turbojet / turbofan engine performance and airframe integration.

Subsonic and supersonic inlet design, analysis and/or integration.

C-D nozzle design analysis.

Experience with trajectory simulations optimization techniques.

Working knowledge of Pro-E and/or Catia.

Understanding of development-focused engineering R&D under competing objectives.

Ability to communicate to a wide range of individuals including technology subject matter experts, and business development product engineers.
Solid Rocket Motor internal ballistic analysis experience.
