Description:
You will be the Operations Excellence Engineer for the MFC LSS Organization. Our team is responsible for driving process improvement, increasing value delivery, and supporting strategic initiatives.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Operations Excellence Engineer you will be responsible for applying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to solve complex, cross‑functional problems and to deploy to any business area to enhance processes.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Embed within functional teams to assess, prioritize, and execute improvement opportunities.
- Deploy to suppliers and sites to eliminate waste and drive sustainable solutions.
- Apply Lean/Six Sigma tools such as 6S, Standard Work, Visual Management, FMEA, and Control Charts to identify root causes.
- Define KPIs, track metrics, and deliver quantified results including cost savings and cycle‑time reductions.
- Prepare executive briefings and dashboards that translate technical findings into strategic business language.

Basic Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline. Advanced degree preferred
Experience:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in process improvement, operations engineering, or consulting roles within a large, complex organization (defense, aerospace, manufacturing, or similar)
Lean/Six Sigma:
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (or higher) OR ability to apply Lean Six Sigma Black Belt skills and techniques with demonstrable project leadership and documented results (e.g., $MM savings, % reduction in lead time)
Consulting Acumen:
- Proven track record of acting as a consultant—designing problem‑solving approaches, facilitating workshops, and delivering actionable recommendations to senior executives
Leadership:
- Ability to influence without direct authority; strong stakeholder management across diverse functional groups
Clearance:
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance, therefore must be a US Citizen
Travel:
- Willingness to travel 80-100%

- Command‑and‑control of meeting rooms; adept at keeping teams focused, managing conflict, and driving consensus
Analytical Rigor:
- Strong quantitative skills; proficiency with statistical software (Minitab, JMP) and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).

Ability to Work Remotely: Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $109,200 - $189,290. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $95,000 - $167,440. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
