Description:
You will be the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – MBD SME for the MFC Digital Transformation team. Our team drives the adoption of Model Based Definition (MBD) across Lockheed Martin, creating high fidelity, digitally enabled product definitions that power Space, Aero, RMS, and the broader HDA organization.
What You Will Be Doing
As the senior MBD subject matter expert you will lead the strategy, deployment, and continuous improvement of MBD practices for both Creo and CATIA. You’ll own the MBD Starter Kit, prototype AI enabled automation, and serve as the key liaison between design leads, chief engineers, and program managers to ensure consistent, production ready data.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Define, implement, and evangelize MBD standards, workflows, and best practice guidance for Dallas and Orlando programs.
• Create, maintain, and evolve the MBD Starter Kit for Creo and CATIA, incorporating automation and AI driven tools.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for design leads, chief engineers, and program managers to drive uniform MBD adoption.
• Represent the MFC Mechanical Design community on the 1LMX Integration Board and other cross business forums.
• Collaborate with downstream stakeholders (Ops, Quality, Manufacturing) to verify that MBD deliverables meet production and inspection requirements.
• Scope, schedule, and budget MBD initiatives; track progress in JIRA and Confluence and deliver clear status reports to HDA directors and DX leadership.
• Design and deliver workshops, webinars, and one on one coaching to raise MBD competency enterprise wide.

Further Information About This Opportunity:
This position is in Orlando, FL.
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college.
A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in a related field.
3 or more years experience in 3D Modeling / Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools using CREO or CATIA.
Ability to obtain a Secret DoD security clearance.
Desired Skills:
The preferred candidate will be experienced with JIRA and Confluence tools for tracking and encouraging program progress toward implementation of MBD.
Experience with AI or tool development and/or innovations, to advance usage and efficiency of Mechanical Design/MBD.
Experience with downstream consumption of MBD (e.g., OPS, Quality).
Budget and tracking responsibilities for MBD projects and tasks.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
