Description:
You will be a FPGA Design Engineer for our team, responsible for designing, developing, and implementing RF solutions using Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). Our team is responsible for creating innovative systems that drive business growth and customer satisfaction.
What You Will Be Doing
As the FPGA Design Engineer, you will lead the digital hardware definition and implementation of complex FPGA-based systems, working closely with algorithm developers, systems engineers, and other hardware/software teams. Your responsibilities will include:
• Lead the design and development of digital systems for RF sensor applications using FPGAs.
• Define FPGA functionality, select and size FPGA devices, and determine communication protocols to meet system throughput requirements.
• Design, simulate, and implement FPGA code using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
• Integrate complex IP cores and MathWorks HDL Coder outputs into FPGA designs.
• Work through timing closure issues, especially in systems involving dense IP and algorithmic outputs.
• Perform bit-precise formal verification of Simulink models.
• Collaborate with the systems team to translate high-level algorithms into Simulink blocks and hardware implementations.
• Utilize Synopsys VCS or equivalent FPGA simulation tools to verify designs.
• Implement high-speed data interfaces such as Ethernet within FPGA architectures.
• Apply advanced DSP concepts to implement efficient hardware-based filtering and processing.
• Architect and evaluate digital systems for RF sensors, including protocols, interconnects, and performance metrics.
• Stay current with emerging FPGA and RF technologies to guide innovation and future system architectures.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Communicate technical information clearly across teams and disciplines.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with AMD RFSoC Gen 3 or Intel Agilex 9 platforms.
• Experience with AMD Versal AI Core series.
• Proficiency in HDL languages: VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
• Strong experience with FPGA simulation tools such as Synopsys VCS.
• Deep understanding of digital design principles including Timing analysis, Clock domain crossing, Signal integrity
• Experience with high-speed data interfaces such as Ethernet.
• Proficiency in integrating MathWorks HDL Coder outputs and complex IP cores into FPGA designs.
• Skilled in working through complex timing issues and achieving timing closure.
• Advanced knowledge of DSP implementation in FPGA architectures.
• Experience with AI engine architectures and hardware acceleration.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
Desired Skills:
• Ability to define system architectures for RF sensors including FPGA functional design, Inter-FPGA communication protocols, selection of cables, connectors, and interfaces
• Demonstrated experience evaluating new and existing technologies for RF systems innovation.
• Prior experience working on defense or aerospace RF sensor systems.
• Familiarity with model-based design and workflow optimization in Simulink.
• Experience with system-level trade studies and performance modeling.
• Knowledge of hardware-software co-design strategies.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
