Orlando, Florida

Orlando, Florida

Job Responsibilities

Job ID: 724954BR Date posted: Apr. 22, 2026
Description:

You will be the Senior Staff Electro Mechanical Design Engineer on the Air Dominance Electromechanical Engineering team in Orlando, Florida. Our team designs, integrates, and qualifies high density electromechanical packages—electronics cards, cable harnesses, and supporting structures—that power both test bed hardware and production line systems for next generation air dominance platforms.

What You Will Be Doing
As the Electro Mechanical Design Engineer you will drive hardware development from concept through integration, test, and production. You’ll coordinate cross functional teams, apply high density packaging expertise, and mentor engineers to ensure every assembly meets mission, safety, and affordability goals. Your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinate end to end affordability and development initiatives, guiding concepts from early design through full rate production.
• Lead cost reduction and producibility studies (e.g., flat cable redesign, rigid flex re spins) and build business cases that support production cut ins.
• Provide production support by leading root cause analyses, working with cross functional partners, and implementing corrective actions.
• Deploy rapid response investigations for emerging production issues at Orlando and Troy facilities.
• Establish clear prioritization criteria for affordability and production efforts while mentoring early career engineers.
• Contribute to manpower planning for Production and Affordability program teams.
• Lead design review and verification sessions with functional leads, program managers, and customer representatives.
• Partner with engineering administration, designers, subcontractors, planning, and quality teams throughout assembly, inspection, and test phases.
• Apply Design for Manufacturability and Design for Test principles to smooth the transition from prototype to production hardware.
• Manage configuration control and documentation in Lockheed Martin tools (e.g., Windchill) to maintain traceability.
• Support Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews to meet MFC milestone schedules.
• Work with the Planning team to capture milestone dates, track status, and report progress.
• Travel occasionally to supplier sites, customer facilities, or program milestones while primarily working onsite in Orlando.
• Mentor and develop less experienced electro mechanical engineers, fostering an inclusive, collaborative culture.
