THE WORK
Mechanical Draftsman
Receive and interpret design inputs (sketches, verbal/written descriptions, conceptual CAD) from senior personnel.
Develop detailed calculations, layouts, and part drawings based on general design outlines.
Design less‑complex mechanical units (e.g., chassis, component layouts) while considering economical manufacturing methods.
Produce and release accurate engineering drawings.
Generate part lists and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Maintain design documentation using CAD tools and Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
Ensure all work complies with applicable standards, company practices, and project specifications.
Conduct self‑checks and peer reviews to verify the accuracy of drafts and calculations.
Assist in updating and revising drawings based on Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and feedback.
Support senior engineers with miscellaneous drafting tasks as required.

Basic Qualifications:
- Graduated from an associate or higher degree in mechanical design/drafting or a related field
- Coursework or Experience in 2D and 3D CAD design and software
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 standards
- Experience in 2D and 3D CAD design using PTC Creo
- Experience in 2D design using AutoCAD
- Experience maintaining datasets using PTC Windchill
- Experience in 2D and 3D drafting checking and verification
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
The base range for this position in New Jersey is $51,926 - $111,887.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. The wage range and benefits summary is a general guideline and is governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.
