Description:The Small Combatants & Ship Systems Adjunct Launcher Engineering Manager is responsible for the functional leadership of a cross discipline team of engineers (Systems, Mechanical, Electrical) within the RMS Engineering & Technology Organization. This role is responsible for staffing, training, talent development, technical process improvement, cost estimating, communications, metrics, technical reviews and the full spectrum leadership of the group. The manager will maintain and ensure compliance with all digital development processes, design standards and tools. This position is a hybrid role that will serve as the primary point of contact for SCSS Baltimore programs at the Moorestown facility and will initially focus on Adjunct Launcher Development. Routine Travel between both sites is required and partial telecommuting will also be considered as part of this role.

The manager will act in a strategic role to design, prototype test and transition demonstration launcher & command and control (c2) units to full rate production for our customers. The selected candidate will work closely with the SCSS Chief Engineering organization and demonstrate a breadth of technical knowledge in multiple areas. In this role, the leader will directly support the Baltimore Prototype Labs as well as the RMS production operations staff to ensure that units can be transitioned. The ideal candidate will have exceptional strong interpersonal skills, business acumen, organizational aptitude and professionalism. The manager will regularly interface with other cross discipline functional leaders throughout RMS and may present to the senior leadership teams concerning both technical and functional topics.
Basic Qualifications:
- Candidate must possess a BS in an engineering discipline or related field
- Mechanical, Electrical or Systems Engineering Design and Analysis experience
- Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to comprehend and work successfully with complex systems
- Candidate must be a self-starter and able to perform job function and make effective decisions with minimal oversite
- Demonstrated project or team lead experience
- Secret Clearance
Desired Skills:
Candidate does not need to possess all of these desired skills. Role will be supplemented with a team who has expertise in the following areas:
- Bachelor’s or Masters’ degree in Mechanical, Systems, or Electrical Engineering
- Experience with Large Structure Mechanical Design
- Experience with Weapons System Design and Testing (Aegis, MK-41 VLS, SQQ-89, TTWCS, AFATADS et. al)
- Experience with System Requirements Development
- Proposal/Cost Estimating development experience, experience supporting a competitive proposal is a plus
- Experience with Structural, Thermal and/or DDAM Analysis
- Experience with printed wiring board design (digital)
- Experience with FPGA development for both classified and unclassified products/applications
- Prior experience with Operations & Production is a plus
- Product knowledge of IWSS products including but not limited to Weapon Systems, Launching Systems, Radar Systems, and Hypersonic Weapons
- Periodic Travel to the RMS Baltimore Facility is required
