Description:The Lockheed Martin CDAO (Chief Data and Analytics Office) AI Consulting Team is looking for a high energy individual with a strong background in software engineering and data science to help grow its business and streamline Data Science processes. This role will have a particular focus on supporting the development of machine learning products by working with stakeholders to understand their business needs, translate them into data problems, and then set the direction of projects to solve those data problems. This individual must drive the work from prototype through to completion and delivery of a minimum viable product or final product so that the business users capture value from the work of the team.
The AI Consulting Team’s mission includes serving as a center of excellence for AI at Lockheed Martin. The candidate will work to disseminate best practices of the CDAO AI team to other AI and data science teams in the corporation. The candidate will be required to create knowledge materials to publish these best practices, as well as meet with other data science leaders in Lockheed Martin to teach and discuss these practices.

Responsibilities of this role will include:

• Day-to-day tasking and management of the CDAO AI Consulting team. Including managerial tasks such as travel approval, time approval, performance reviews, etc.
• Identifying new opportunities for business for the team.
• Managing relationships with stakeholders and potential stakeholders.
• Tracking projects and driving work on them through to completion.
• Building business processes for more efficient operation of the team.
• Coordinating work with neighboring data science teams.
• Implementing best technical practices from the fields of machine learning and software engineering.
• Identifying tooling gaps on the team and working to fill those gaps.
• Hiring and mentoring team members.
• Helping to plan the strategic vision of the team.
• Navigating corporate policies and procedures for the team.
• Spreading best practices of the team to other data science teams at Lockheed Martin by creating knowledge materials, presenting those materials, and engaging with other data science leaders on those materials.

Basic Qualifications:
• Experience with developing software and software engineering best practices.
• Functional or technical leadership experience.
• Superlative critical thinking skills.
• Superlative communication and interpersonal skills.
• Superlative organizational skills.
• Familiarity with data science and/or AI technologies.
• Demonstrated ability and drive to stay updated on new technologies in the rapidly evolving field of AI.

Domestic travel will be required.

• Financial planning and management experience.
• Project management experience.
• Programming skills in Python, R, bash or javascript.
• Experience with or knowledge of data science and machine learning by way of work, projects, courses, etc.
• The ability to identify valuable ways of incorporating machine learning into business workflows and processes.
• NLP or deep learning expertise.
• Experience with or knowledge of data engineering.
• Experience with or knowledge of AWS.
• Experience with or expertise in manufacturing and/or engineering processes.
