Description:This first-line management position will lead a systems and software engineering team for Newport Operations supporting direct contract programs with the NUWC Newport customer and supporting RMS programs in the C6ISR Line of Business with emphasis on programs in the Undersea Warfare and C4 ISR market segments. This includes working with the Newport's management staff to provide technical and capture support. The successful candidate demonstrates the ability to lead, drive, and energize a team of multiple skills and job disciplines across several projects or task orders.
This position will be responsible for the technical, cost, and schedule execution of program activities for a number of simultaneous program milestones and objectives. These programs include the TRIDENT Data Processing Subsystem (DPS), In-Service Engineering and the NUWC Code 25 Special Projects contracts Newport provides supports to NUWC. The position includes being engaged in software development activities across the full software development life-cycle, ensuring the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools are applied for the TRIDENT DPS program. For this position you will be expected to facilitate the deployment and use of best practices, tools, and processes on our programs and work with the Engineering Program Managers (EPMs) to ensure programs are staffed properly and the organization’s staff is meeting all program and business commitments.

This position will be responsible for personnel management of a team to include performance assessment, career development guidance, assignment onto programs, merit and salary actions, training plans, staffing and recruiting.

This position will be responsible for making innovative contributions to the development of new business opportunities and product line road maps. This includes forging new relationships with Lockheed Martin business areas, small businesses and commercial businesses in the New England area.
Basic Qualifications:
• Current and active DoD secret security clearance.
• Business management education or equivalent experience managing personnel.
• Project management and team leadership experience and skills with experience in engineering assignments and successful proven results in leading teams.
• Ability to interface directly with internal and external customers. Experience with small business collaboration is a plus.
• Ability to lead your engineering team and support their career development.
• Strong relationship building skills with your staff and with internal and external customers.
• Ability to multi-task, outstanding effective communication skills, and a strong track record of team-building.
• Demonstrates effective technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• New business Capture experience with Commercial and US DOD customers
Desired Skills:
• Engineering experience that may include electrical/mechanical/computer science engineering experience and education.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and behaviors that align with the Full Spectrum Leadership Imperatives
• Ability to energize a team of multiple skills and job disciplines across several projects or task orders.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience planning and coordinating systems engineering and software development in a team-oriented environment
• Understanding of engineering principles and software development processes.
• Knowledgeable in Systems/Software Engineering Process and Tools
• Strong systems/software engineering technical skill sets
• Experience with submarine electronic systems
• Ability to navigate politically sensitive situations with internal and external customers.
• Familiarity with Lockheed Martin and customer contract and task order management including ability to interface with Lockheed Martin Contracts, Finance and Program Management to manage assigned programs – Familiarity with the OHIO CLASS (SSBN/SSGN) Command and Control System (CCS) And Non-Propulsion Electronic System (NPES) Modification Development Standard Operating Procedure is a plus.
• Experience in support of Agile methods or with Digital Transformation is a plus
• BS degree or equivalent experience in an engineering field.
