Job Responsibilities
Description:What You Will Be Doing:
The Diagnostics and Health Management (DHM) group within the AMMM Maintainability department develops fault‑isolation procedures, diagnostic algorithms, and health‑monitoring solutions for C‑130, L‑100, LM‑100, C‑5, and P‑3 aircraft. Reporting to the Technical Lead, the Level 2 Systems Engineer will:
Design, implement, and validate vehicle‑level diagnostic technologies.
Author and maintain fault‑isolation procedures and associated technical documentation for aircraft systems.
Analyze maintenance and performance data to identify trends, recommend corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement of health‑monitoring tools.
Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to translate requirements into DHM solutions.
Primary responsibilities:
Research, author, and edit fault‑isolation procedures and diagnostic documentation.
Develop, test, and refine diagnostic algorithms (fault detection, health indices, trend monitoring).
Perform data‑driven analysis of aircraft performance, maintenance, and failure data to propose improvements to diagnostic logic and health‑monitoring strategies.
Collect product specifications, verify configuration baselines, and validate support requirements for diagnostic systems.
Produce clear, process‑oriented technical documentation (manuals, SOPs, engineering reports) for internal and external customers.
Support the creation of inputs for Statements of Work (SOWs), proposals, and quotes related to DHM capabilities.
Travel occasionally to supplier and customer facilities (domestic & international) as needed.
Candidate will be required to work overtime as required to meet scheduled deliveries while requiring minimal direction in accomplishing assigned tasks.
Selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Basic Qualifications:
Familiarity and working knowledge of aircraft maintenance concepts and practices covering multiple systems
Understanding of diagnostic and/or prognostic concepts
Experience in aircraft maintenance and a working knowledge/understanding of vehicle-level diagnostics, fault-isolation logic, or health monitoring implementations
Knowledge of aircraft technical manuals; understanding how those manuals relate to the maintenance philosophy.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or another STEM related field (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience).
Desired Skills:
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate (or equivalent).
Direct experience developing fault‑isolation procedures for aircraft systems.
Hands‑on work with diagnostics and health‑monitoring tools or platforms.
Experience analyzing large maintenance/performance data sets to drive engineering decisions.
Proven technical‑writing background (producing manuals, SOPs, engineering reports).
Knowledge of systems‑engineering processes, including integration, verification, and testing of diagnostic hardware/software.
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and Windows Operating System. Ability to use data-analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, MATLAB, or similar) is a plus.
Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and be able to excel in a team environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
