This position is for a mid-career Defensive Systems Software Engineer supporting mission systems development for Skunk Works Advanced Mobility platforms and capabilities. The candidate selected for this position will perform duties as assigned as a part of the Sensor and Weapons Integration team within the Engineering and Technology organization. The individual selected will be responsible for working with the Defensive Systems team, suppliers, internal Mission Systems software teams, and aircraft provider to develop and integrate software to interface with and manage defensive systems on airborne platforms. Additionally, briefings to customer and program technical leadership will be necessary.

The selected individual is expected to:
• Apply extensive technical expertise and have full knowledge of other related disciplines
• Candidate will be expected to work with all stakeholders to ensure compliance across multiple ICDs
• Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
• Have strong Software Development Skills in C++, Python, and or JAVA
• Have experience working in a Linux environment
• Guide the successful completion of major software increments
• Represent the team as the prime technical point of contact
• Interact with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations
• Ability to build and maintain relationships, collaborate with others, engage in constructive conflict, and manage interpersonal dynamics
• Have strong decision making and judgment
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Have understanding of embedded systems and real time software


Up to 25% travel will be required for this position.

This position is in Marietta, GA  Discover Marietta.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited college in Computer Science or a related STEM discipline.
• Experience in RF or IR Defensive Systems (e.g. Electronic Warfare, Electro-Optical/Infrared) or a related field
• Experience in C++ and Python
• Experience with Software Integration and Test

Must be a US citizen. This position is in a facility that requires special access and at least an interim Secret clearance is required to start.
Desired Skills:
• Experience collaborating with suppliers and managing technical baselines
• Experience with Java
• Aircraft systems integration experience
• Integration and test experience in a Systems Integration Lab (SIL) environment
• Electronic system integration in a lab or onboard an aircraft, including experience with MIL-STD-1553 and/or ARINC 429 data comms
• Experience integrating software from different teams
• Experience mentoring junior engineers
• Experience using and enforcing best practices in a code baseline through SPE, Code Reviews and Design
• Experience with embedded and real time software
