Description:
You will be the Internal Flowpath Design Engineer – Propulsion for the Propulsion Systems Team which is responsible for designing and optimizing propulsion flowpaths.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Internal Flowpath Design Engineer – Propulsion you will be responsible for creating high‑performance internal flowpaths for aircraft and missile propulsion systems, performing CFD analyses, and developing CAD models that translate into reliable hardware.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design internal flowpaths using advanced CAD tools.
- Conduct CFD simulations to assess aerodynamic performance.
- Develop and execute test plans for power‑plant components.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to integrate designs.
- Ensure designs meet efficiency, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Further Information About This Opportunity
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must possess an active Interim Secret clearance to start.

Basic Qualifications:
-Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
-Application of CFD meshing and flow solver tools to solve aerodynamic problems in a parallel, high performance computing environment.
-Experience in internal flowpath design to include inlets, nozzles, and/or secondary air systems. Capable of using CFD results to optimize a flowpath for subsonic and supersonic applications.
-Experience with advanced surface modeling and lofting in a CAD software package (CATIA, Siemens NX)
Desired Skills:
-Ph.D. with a focus on Computational Fluid Dynamics OR a Master’s degree with at least 3 years of experience in internal flowpath analysis and design.
-Experience in refining and optimizing flowpath geometry for key performance parameters while minimizing the effects of phenomena such as distortion, buzz, and various loss mechanisms
-Experience in data science, data analytics, multi-fidelity/surrogate modeling, and/or machine learning is desired
-Experience in wind tunnel testing to include test planning, data reduction, and CFD model verification and validation to test data
-CFD Flow Solver and related software development, analysis validation testing, code release and maintenance
-Experience with state-of-the-art parallel computing techniques including distributed computing, algorithm optimization, or benchmarking is highly desired
-Experience with modeling advanced aerodynamics such as hypersonic, aero-optic or turbulent flow (RANS, DES, LES)
-Experience in building, compiling, and debugging complex Fortran (current and legacy versions), C/C++, Python, or similar language code in a Linux/Unix environment.
-Strong working knowledge of tools and libraries available for the Linux operating system.
-Demonstrated willingness to diversify skills by staying informed of state-of-the-art developments, experimenting with and championing new technologies and recommending improvements to existing techniques and procedures
-Ability to understand complex engineering principles to effectively communicate with users, understand their work, and translate requirements into software solutions.
-Experience in developing, optimizing, compiling, implementing, and testing multithreaded, multiprocessor performance-oriented software with Message Passing Interface, OpenMP, CUDA or other parallel processing framework.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
