You will be the Associate General Counsel - Director to lead the Legal team at our site in Marietta, GA as part of the Senior Leadership for Air Mobility and Maritime Missions (AMMM) Programs.

What You Will Be Doing:

Counsel to Aeronautics’ company and program executive leaders and business teams in support of all AMMM programs including C-130, C-5, P-3 and LM-100J programs, as well as legacy commercial aircraft (CAP). Collaborates with leadership on strategy and operational issues, directly supporting the AMMM General Manager and the senior staff. To enable this close collaboration, the position is required to be on-site.

Prepares contract language, advises on contract and subcontract terms and conditions, and analyzes and mitigates legal risk on contracts and other agreements valued in the hundreds of millions or billions of dollars. Prepares, reviews, analyzes and modifies letters of intent, memoranda of understanding, and associated agreements between LM Aero and foreign governments and domestic and international subcontractors.

Participates directly in negotiations with U.S. Government legal counsel, foreign government legal counsel, and subcontractor and supplier legal counsel on legal matters of high complexity and dollar value. Assists with negotiation and settlement of major prime contracts with US and Foreign Governments, teaming agreements and supplier/partner negotiations. International travel will be required at times.

Requires very high level of US and international government and commercial contracts knowledge and experience to achieve business objectives, resolve complex legal issues, and provide successful business partnering and risk mitigation.

Handles FAA-related legal and compliance matters with LM-100J and legacy aircraft program.

Member of program teams that capture and execute new and current programs, develop and implement pursuit of claims to increase revenues/avoid losses, and attainment of other business objectives.

Must also be able to handle site-specific issues associated with the facilities and compliance as needed.

Position requires deep experience, judgment, and ability to work independently as well as with teams.

Selects and manages outside legal counsel when specialized legal expertise is required to analyze issues and mitigate risk.

Manages LM Aero claims, disputes, and litigation arising out of AMMM programs and associated contracts.

Constant interface with outside counsel to ensure successful outcomes and to manage costs and budgets associated with defense of pending claims.

Successfully resolves existing lawsuits and mitigates substantial financial risk to the Company.

Advises internal functional organizations as to various compliance obligations such as FAR mandatory disclosures and other contract compliance obligations.

Conducts internal investigations and interfaces with Governmental agencies in response to external investigations and inquiries, including criminal investigations , responses to subpoenas and similar requests for information.

Coordinates with corporate legal and other offices on complex financing, tax, contracts and risk management issues to include aviation liability and aircraft mishaps issues.

Managing junior attorney, providing development and assignments, and collaborates with other attorneys and leaders in the Legal Department.
Basic Qualifications:
• J.D. and Licensed to practice law in the U.S.

• Government contracts experience with US and Foreign Governments

• Experience as an attorney in aerospace and defense industry

• 8+ years experience related to the above with government, industry or law firms
Desired Skills:
• Direct Commercial Contracting with Foreign Governments

• Foreign Military Sales experience

• Experience with legal issues associated with claims, subcontractors, manufacturing, cost accounting, compliance and investigations

• Aircraft-related experience, such as FAA experience, aircraft mishaps experience

• Management of other attorneys

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
