Airworthiness Engineer

Description:Candidate will serve as an airworthiness engineering representative/ airworthiness subject matter expert and independent program authority for all aspects of airworthiness compliance and certification. Candidate must thoroughly understand FAA Type Certification and Supplemental Type Certification processes. Candidate will support the following: Assist in obtaining Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) for suppliers, chair/facilitate regular meetings with the FAA / provide minutes, submit type data to the FAA, advise LM regarding FAA Certification, including LM commercial programs outside of Marietta, and interface with the Atlanta ACO for requests, actions, and approvals. In addition, candidate will support Continued Operational Safety (COS) for LM commercial aircraft.
Basic Qualifications:
• General knowledge of Airworthiness with specific knowledge FAA Airworthiness Certification requirements
• Experience in applying airworthiness principles, techniques
• Ability to develop professional presentations and present information to audiences at all levels
• Demonstrated ability to self-initiate assignments and pursue courses of action to achieve desired results
• Ability to work independently on advanced technical assignments implementing long range goals and objectives
• Ability to work in teams and achieve desired results
Desired Skills:
• FAA Delegated Engineering Representative (DER) in any technical discipline or ODA Unit Member experience
• Prior experience with Airworthiness Certification of Civil Programs including activities leading to both Special and Standard airworthiness certificates
• Ability to innovate and implement solutions to Airworthiness challenges and problems
• Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of Systems Engineering and Configuration Management
• Ability to lead and influence peers, leaders, other employees, and customer airworthiness representatives
• Ability to evaluate and make authoritative recommendations to proposal and new business ventures related to Airworthiness
• Knowledge of FAA Advisory Circulars and guidance material, EASA, and other global civil Regulatory Authorities
