We operate a critical utility plant that provides essential services to support our operations. The Work

As a Utility Plant Operator, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of our plant and site equipment. You’ll be responsible for both day-to-day operations and troubleshooting, ensuring our systems are running at peak performance.

Key responsibilities include:

Operating and maintaining utility plant equipment, including high-temperature hot water generators, centrifugal chillers, air compressors, cooling towers, and HVAC systems.

Monitoring and controlling the building management system to optimize performance and efficiency.

Recording, reviewing, and interpreting equipment/system readings, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions.

Performing routine repairs and maintenance, including preventive and predictive work, modifications, and upgrades.

Troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and control system issues using hand tools, multi-meters, and diagnostic equipment.

Collaborating with other team members to ensure seamless operations and a positive, team-oriented environment.

Shift details:

Initial training: 1st shift (7:30 am – 4:00 pm) for approximately two months.

After training: 3rd shift (12:00 am – 8:00 am), continuing training until fully qualified as an operator.

Weekend work, holidays, overtime, and shift coverage as needed.

Please note:

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD government clearance at the Secret level.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience operating and maintaining utility plant systems and/or industrial mechanical equipment.

Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems.

Ability to read, interpret, and act on system readings and technical manuals.

Skilled in troubleshooting using hand tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment.

Comfortable working nights, weekends, and holidays when required.

Basic Qualifications:
3 years of HVAC work experience or equivalent certification.

High school degree or equivalency.

Valid driver's license.

Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance.
EPA CFC Universal certification.

Proficiency in hand and power tools.

Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and controls issues.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD government clearance at the Secret level.

Ability to work from aerial lift platforms and ladders.

Ability to lift 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
Desired Skills:
Familiarity with building management systems, computerized alarm and control systems, and general computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel).

Experience with water distribution systems (includes chilled water, heating/cooling systems).

Knowledge of steam generators, deaerators, coils secondary hot water systems, building automated electronic control systems; refrigeration systems, HVAC systems that supply controlled temperature and humidity.

Ability to check out operational and functional components of entire building HVAC systems to maintain, repair and operate to original manufacture’s specifications

Self-motivated, dependable, and positive attitude.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and alone.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: Non- standard 40 hour work week as assigned by leader
