Systems Engineer Staff / Manassas, VA

Description:This position is for a Systems Engineer (SE) on the SQQ-89 Program at our Manassas, VA facility. The candidate will be expected to participate throughout the full SE life cycle, including software development and early integration, hardware stand-up, string and system integration, test planning, system certification and sell-off, and system delivery and production support. A significant part of this SE role is in support of Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers, acting as the primary engineering interface with the FMS teams. This position requires the engineer to:
- Represent the organization via interface with internal and external customers, program working groups, integrated product teams, and multidisciplinary engineering teams on significant technical matters
- Perform functional analysis, design trade studies, requirements definition and allocation, and interface definition to translate customer requirements into system specifications
- Support integration and test, evaluate test results, investigate discrepancies, provide technical assessment of anomalies, and drive issues to resolution
Both domestic and international travel in support of program activities will be required.
Basic Qualifications:
Knowledge of systems engineering concepts, including requirements analysis and definition is required. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, have strong analytic and communication skills, and work well in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment. The candidate must have a demonstrated potential in the following areas: analysis, requirements development, design, simulation, integration, and test. The candidate must have strong leadership, administrative, and interpersonal skills. The candidate must be flexible, motivated, dedicated, detail-focused, and team-oriented. Familiarity with PC and workstation design tools and environments used for system and subsystem engineering is required.
Desired Skills:
- Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) experience spanning both sonar and weapon control systems
- Experience with the SQQ-89 system
- Knowledge and experience with Aegis Combat System and interfaces with other combat system elements
- Experience with Japanese Aegis ships
- Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering/Object Oriented Design
- Experience with DOORS requirement management
