Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems is seeking a full-time Quality Engineer supporting manufacturing efforts in Manassas. In this role, you will be an integral part of the Quality Management System for a high rate manufacturing program, handling non-conforming material, process improvements, and developing innovative quality assurance systems. The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of quality principles in the areas of: design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation, program performance, reliability, inventory control, and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality for make and/or buy products. Performs technical evaluations including product requirements, specifications, models/designs, drawings and procedures. Collaborates with program management, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and customers on quality related issues to ensure quality standards are in place. The successful candidate will also be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining statistical process control visualizations for the program. The successful candidate will also have responsibility for operating and maintaining AI based inspection systems.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a Relevant Field: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems: Familiarity with quality management systems such as AS9100, ISO 9001, with an understanding of the principles and practices of quality engineering.
- Communication and Collaboration Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, and prepare and present reports and other documentation as needed.
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of Industry Standards and Regulations. Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations (e.g., DoD requirements, AS9100, ANSI Z540, ESD S20.20), with the ability to apply compliance knowledge to aerospace and defense manufacturing and inspection processes.

- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills. Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and interpret large, complex datasets. Skilled at identifying root causes of quality issues and implementing data-driven corrective and preventive actions using structured methodologies (5-Whys, Fishbone, FRACAS/FRB).

- Experience in High-Rate Manufacturing Environments. Hands-on experience supporting production in high-rate, fast-paced manufacturing settings, balancing quality assurance with efficiency, throughput, and continuous improvement.

- Programming and Technical Proficiency. Proficient in programming languages such as Java, Python, MATLAB, or similar, with experience in data analysis, automation, and maintaining/customizing machine learning inspection systems (e.g., computer vision, anomaly detection, AI-assisted quality tools). Ability to develop scripts, dashboards, or models to monitor and enhance inspection effectiveness.

- Quality and Digital Integration Mindset. Familiarity with machine learning, computer vision, and digital quality technologies. Ability to partner with engineers and data scientists to integrate ML-based inspection into quality workflows, ensuring robustness, scalability, and regulatory compliance.

- Strong communication skills to collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and program teams. Capable of explaining technical insights (data trends, ML performance, quality findings) in clear terms for diverse audiences, including leadership and customers.

- Driven to improve processes and inspection effectiveness by leveraging advanced analytics, automation, and emerging technologies.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
