Space Protection Programs (SPP) is seeking an experienced professional to perform requirements, ICD and verification engineering for a first-of-its-kind CubeSat-based Space and Ground system. The successful candidate will be the go-to person for managing the program requirements baseline and managing its verification within IBM Rational’s Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements Management System (DOORS). This person will be an integral member of a lean Systems Engineering team of approximately ten, who share the many Systems Engineering disciplines among them. Ample opportunities exist within this program to diversify into other Systems areas, such as Conops, Mission Operations, Test Engineering, etc, if desired.

As a Systems Engineer, you will:
• Focus on the development and flow down of requirements
• Collaborate with teammates to validate, mature, and manage specifications
• Perform Mission Engineering and define system CONOPS
• Participate in studies and system trades for performance analysis and optimization
• Perform systems/hardware integration, test planning and execution

Typically has 9 - 15 years of professional experience.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a technical discipline or equivalent experience/combined education
• Understanding of Systems Engineering disciplines, including requirements decomposition, verification and ICD development
• Working knowledge of IBM Rational Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements Management System (DOORS)
• Must currently hold an SCI or TS clearance with a background investigation within the last 5 years
Desired Skills:
• Intermediate to expert knowledge of (DOORS)
• Ability to develop productive relationships with co-workers, Customers and mission partners
• Experience with test engineering and/or test execution, where requirements selloff is performed
• Experience working with both Space and Ground engineering
• Experience as the technical owner of a product
• Experience with / knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), particularly with the Cameo tool
• Versatility in moving between systems engineering disciplines such as mission design, Conops development, component testing, and others.
